Why is system allowing me more fastpasses than tickets?

This is sort of a confusing question, so hang with me!

The bottom line is that the MDE site is allowing me to make reservations for more days than I currently have entry tickets - which seems odd, and I want to make sure I'm not screwing something up.

Here's the explanation in detail:

I have a party of 4 people. One is a cast member who has his own entry. He's also earned four comp tickets for us. We've purchased an additional two tickets.

So we have:
Day 1:
1 person on their cast member ticket
3 people on comp hoppers

Day 2:
1 person on cast member ticket
1 person on comp hopper
2 people on purchased ticket

In a few weeks, we'll be either buying or receiving another three comp tickets for our third day.

So far, so good. I set up fastpasses for days 1 and 2 for our group.

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to see if there was still availability for our third day. So I searched, and MDE allowed me to make fastpass reservations for the third day *even though I don't have tickets for the third day yet*!

Is this normal? Permissible?

I should add that I have a hotel reservation as well, linked, but not purchased as a package.

My guess is either: (1) this is just generally allowed or (2) somehow this the cast member's card is changing how it works.

I don't want the cast member to somehow get in trouble (like we're trying to game the system, which we're not) or our fastpass reservations get cancelled.

But if it's permissible, it'd be great to hang on to those fastpasses.

Should we be OK? Does this make any sense?

The CM MainGate pass allows 4 days worth of FPs. Are three Guest Passes linked to the MainGate or does the CM only have the separate comp tickets?

For that 3rd day, you may be booking the MainGate and 3 Guest Passes.

Not specific tickets, per se.
You can BOOK advance FP+ on any ticket in your MDE account, but actually USE a different to enter the park (and still use your booked FP+.)

FP+ is attached to a specific PERSON (name) in an MDE account.

If you are booking using your own MDE account, then no, you can't access the CM Guest Passes. They are only accessible when using the CM's MDE to book FP's.

Do you possibly have at least 3 days worth of tickets linked to each person? You can check in your Tickets and Passes section.
