Why is standard room so much more?

ITs almost $800 more on the disneyland.com website this summer. Is it because the renovated rooms are standard view and the resort/pool view aren't renovated yet?

Also does anyone know when all the rooms should be complete?

And finally... why cannot I see dlh concierge rooms when I go through reservations on the website? Does that mean they are all completely booked for July?

The first renovated rooms are the resort/pool view rooms in the dreams tower so that should not impact the price of the standard rooms. What dates are you trying to book for? And are you trying to book a package or room only?

I think what happened is that they had a big 40% off sale and the cheaper tier of rooms booked up. The promotional rates were originally a lot less than what is on the calendar now.

I'm not sure about concierge, but they may be in the process of renovating it at the times you're checking.

ETA: as far as when the reno will be completed, that's a few years away, I believe. I heard the Dreams Tower was supposed to be done in June. They are going to do all the towers one at a time, beginning with Dreams.

so I went to test this out for myself and saw that a 3 night standard room is 189.00 more than a resort view. I am sure that DizMe is right about the standards being booked up. But with the summer special an upper level resort view is very reasonable.

I tried looking up rates for the time I will be there... july 8th through the 11th, and concierge was available though. Maybe they are just out of concierge rooms for the period of time you are attempting to book.

Interesting! I remember reading recently on another thread that a standard room at GCH was cheaper than a standard at DLH this summer, so you could go with a resort view at DLH or you might check into GCH rates :goodvibes

We were set on the GCH because it looks so nice but a lot of people on here recc. the DLH because we have and 4 and 6 year old and apparently the pools are better for them at DLH? So I priced out the two resorts and I cannot decide which one to do for the 5 nights we are there. There is only $300 difference between the resort view at DLH or standard at GCH. I need to jump on one but I cannot decide. I keep going back and forth. I would love to check out the renovated rooms at DLH (if we were lucky enough to get one) but GCH looks more up my DH's alley. Also I do like the location of GCH! Ughhh!!! Decisions, decisions....

Ok - called Disney and they said all the standard view rooms set aside for the 5 for 3 promotion sold out at DLH during the week I am there (uh oh - big crowds)! So did concierge. So that explains the price difference.

The GCH rates are really good! I'm booked at the Doubletree Guest Suites but for around a hundred dollars more a night we could stay at the GCH. I really want to upgrade our trip because I'd love to try the GCH, but we've had too many unexpected expenses the last month or so to justify it.
I'm really hoping to find a bag of money laying around our house that I forgot about! Wouldn't that be nice?
I think if one is interested in staying at the GCH then this summer is a great time to do it.
