Why is Peter Pan so popular?

I have never been on the Peter Pan ride and when we were at MK in June it has CRAZY long lines. At midnight on EMH the wait was still over an hour. What is the attraction to this particular ride?

It is a classic. Adults, who went as kids to Disney rode this ride and now take their kids on. Plus it is just so darn cute!

It was my personal favorite ride as a child. I really liked the movie as well. My 3 kids also like the ride. I wouldn't call it their favorite, but we HAVE to ride it at least once a trip (just like it's a small world). It is also one of (if not the only one left at WDW) the classic "dark rides" that Disney parks were known for.

I finally rode it in 2010.....it's very cute and I liked it, but I won't wait on a long line for it. It is a slow loader.

Such a classic attraction! I loved it as a child and I still love it as an adult. It's simple, beautifully done and fun in a childish way.

I don't remember riding this as a kid, but I will say I miss a lot of the classics from when I was young (Alice in Wonderland comes to mind and the one where they shrunk you down and shot you into a blood stream - I loved that one). I just wondered if there was something super special about Pan.

My parents know the movie from their childhood. My parents introduced me to the movie as a boy. I introduced the movie to my two children. So multiple generations are familiar with the characters and the movie.

As for the attraction, it has many things going for it. It's changed very little since it opened so it's nostalgic for those of us who went to the World as kids. While dark, it's not scary and can be ridden by kids of all ages. You're flying! Nothing else to add to that part.

Working against it and contributing to the line length is the slow omnirover-like loading area. "Slow" is being nice.

Capacity is the main issue. A ride like PP has maybe 600-700 people per hour possible, while a ride like Pirates can do 2000 per hour. It's not so much 'popular' (it is but...)...it's that the ride capacity is VERY low.

It's a classic. It isn't very good and not worth the wait.

But it is a classic.

Well Put. My thoughts exactley :thumbsup2

it used to be that if you left the park and intended to return, they'd stamp your hand with an ink that glowed in the dark. it would often be a character or something.

with all of the black lighting in peter pan, it was one of the few places you could see your hand stamp and see what you got. memories that are still so vivid to me.

also, it has great detailing. the cars in the model of london. the lost boys. it's dated, but in a sweet nostalgic sort of way.

Well who doesn't want to fly. I just had no clue (I know, I should look on YouTube) what the ride actually entails. Now I know and when we go back I'll try to FP just so I can say I did it.

I'm guessing because it is a slower ride and does not have the capacity of some of the other rided.

I would not wait an hour for the ride but I would have to find atleast sometime to ride it. It's a classic ride that I remember riding as a child and still enjoy riding as an adult.

1) ANYONE can ride it. (babies, kids, adults)
2) It loads slower than many rides
3) It has broad appeal (nothing really to get scared of, no worry of gettting wet, it's cool inside, no big worries about motion sickness...)
4) It's a classic

That is one of my father's favorite rides. He never went to WDW until he was in college and actually never rode the ride until I was in middle school. It had always been his experience that the line was outrageously long, Peter Pan was not his favorite movie, and it was just some kiddie ride. He just didn't care to ride it. Then, one night, the wait was down to only 20 minutes due to it being Extra Magic Hours (many years ago when they first started having EMHs) and he, along with my mom, sister, and me, decided to go on it. He was hooked. He loved the feeling like he was flying. He loved how simple it was, yet that it stirred feelings of such excitement in him. Now, as we prepare to take my DD2 on her first ever WDW vacation, he has already claimed Peter Pan's Flight as the ride he wants to get to ride with her on.:goodvibes

For the record, DH has claimed Barnstormer, I think my sister will take her on Dumbo, and the entire family is going to ride with her on It's A Small World for her very first WDW ride.

coz who doesn't want to fly like Peter Pan over London? second star on the right, straight on to morning!!

It's a classic, you feel like you're flying, the scenes are well-done and colorful, and stuff glows. ;)

It's a tradition for us. Although we have sometimes not done PP in a trip, I always feel something is missing!
