Anyone have any idea why Ohana’s is closed today? It’s not normal as staff had no idea (allegedly) … doesn’t sound like a good situation?

Are they reopened yet?
They reopened the next day i think and were definitely open before we left on Saturday … not sure why everything at Disney has to be so secretive that the cast members don’t even know … frankly when a restaurant closes suddenly and nobody seems to know why (or won’t tell) my mind immediately goes to a failed health inspection or some other contamination factor neither of which we would want to partake in … we wouldn’t even order any of the limited foods that were available at Tambu because of the uncertainty …

And you think the Polynesian would serve you unsafe food? Tambu would not have offered any food items were not safely prepared in the main kitchen.

I have no idea. Bigger question is why it was a big secret as to the reason, how hard is it to say the grill wouldn’t fire up or the freezer broke IF that is all it was? cast members either didn’t know why the closure happened or weren’t telling either of which I found queer… for all I knew they found rat droppings in the pot sticker dipping sauce … you can take your chances based on that scenario but I chose not to … and perhaps may never go back because of it

It is a fine line... Some companies are very open and transparent when explaining why they make decisions. Disney seems to be exceptionally good at the non-answer answer, and that seems to be their corporate/media strategy. Seems to have worked quite well for them.

Disney does not owe an explanation to any of us as to why a dining location or even an attraction is unavailable for a few hours, a day or longer. It was clear they were closed due to an unscheduled situation.

The CMs that were present were not authorized to provide you a detailed explanation beyond the dining establishments was closed even if they knew exactly what caused the unscheduled closure. Oral statements to guests often generate the most extreme versions of "Telephone" distortion of the facts vs a published statement in today's world. Even published announcements are distorted or misquoted.

I’d say they certainly owe an explanation to the hundreds of folks that booked a dinner reservation 60 days ago and showed up only to be told it’s closed …but Ok I go with rat turds as an explanation Dave … appreciate the insider insight …

Were you affected by the closure?

Absolutely or I wouldn’t have given a care about it …. Were you?
No, I'm not at WDW right now. Just curious why someone would get so upset over a restaurant to post about possible rat turds...

The food safety division would've shut them down by now if that was the case.

How do I know that isn’t what happened since Disney felt the need to be secretive about it? That was kind of the point
