Why is my cat not using her litter box?!!

Vaccuum/sweep twice a day or more- seems the only thing to do if they like an uncovered box.

Another alternative is to find a huge cardboard box (fridge size) and cut it down to "hoppable" height, and put the litter box inside the bigger box. If I had the room to do this in my laundry room, it would sure solve the flying litter problem.

Other than that, it's broom and dustpan daily. I guess you could also get an extra large plush carpet remnant and catch the litter in the carpet, shaking it out every couple of days?

My 16 year old tom cat has always preferred to zap towels & things on the floor or walk in robes. If the litter box is not pristine, then he will find something else to zap.

It is a wonder he was not made into slippers years ago as I have lost count of how many clothes, shoes, carpets he has ruined.
