Why is May such a mess?

I see a lot of poor availability (booked up rooms) in early May. Anyone know why that is?

Early May is the new September except the chances of hurricane weather is slimmer. Cheaper points. Flower and Garden Festival. Nice weather. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone! Let's just keep that a secret among ourselves!

I was able to book first full week in May. No issues at my home resort(VGF).
Daughter wants to stay at the BPK room,I told her about the noise from the next door rooms. I'm taking earplugs.

Agreed. As we were waiting for our BWV to close and points to be loaded, I kept seeing the availability shrinking for a week in May that didn’t include Mothers Day. Points finally got loaded July 7 and I was only able to get a 1 bedroom pool/garden view. Needless to say, we grabbed that and wait listed a boardwalk view.

Early May can be a lovely time to visit. It was pretty warm this year, high 90’s, which surprised me a little. But we’re booked for early May again next year, hoping it is a bit cooler. .

early may is a gamble.... Sometimes you get lucky and it is just amazingly temperate. Other times it is sweltering. You just never know!

Beginning with the 2021 WDW point charts, first two weeks of May began a move from a fairly high point cost season to the second lowest point cost season of the year, a move completed with the 2023 point charts e.g., points needed for a BCV studio for a week went from 120 to 107, an 11% decrease. After that change began, the demand for rooms for the first two weeks of May steadily increased year over year, and may continue to increase somewhat in the next couple of years, a result of the truism that there are a lot of members who concentrate on booking during the lower point cost times of the year (but it takes some time for many of them to make the change when the point seasons change).
