Today at work, I had to a "People Strategy Assessment" survey. I guess it is to get an idea of what our work environment is really like. Anyway, I came across this question
"I feel free to say what I think even if it means disagreeing with my manager" and I was told to rank it. I ranked fairly low... pretty much right at the bottom. The only one I ranked that low was the one about being positive about the future
Anyway, as long as I have ever had a job, I have never felt free to question the 'authority' or speak my mind if I knew that the uppers would disagree with that. That question really made me wonder why. Is it because I think they don't care? Is it because I think I will be repremanded or labeled as bad because I do question? Or am I just chicken?
That one question struck a chord with me (as well as the positive and upbeat about the future one) and it got me wondering am I the only one that way?
