Why is it so slow the first week of December?

We are considering going then, to see X-mas decorations, and because of the low crowds and nice weather. I was just wondering why it is so slow, and the crowds get so heavy closer to Christmas. And does the crowd level increase much during MVMCP early December?

There are no school vacations or long weekends in early December. Lots of people take advantage of Thanksgiving week, when there is vacation. But don't spread the secret too much!

I think it's slower because kids are still in school. However this Dec seems to be more popular than last year. I could not get the category I wanted (dec 9-15th) at the GF, and I booked last month. Last year I booked in November without a problem.

Also I think that if you go to the MVMCP mid week, it will be less crowded as the locals go during the weekends.

We went last year on a Tues night and while there were lots of people getting in, once in the MK it was fine. We loved MVMCP!

Interesting. Last December, we went in the first week and had no trouble. it was a great time to see the decorations and we enjoyed our vacation very much. Generally, I would expect the deluxes to fill slowly because it is a little chilly for the pools.

UG lists the crowd level at a 5, then going to a 4 the second week. They also list May as a 7-8, and when we went we never waited more than 20 minutes to ride anything. It was great.

How can I find out when the Pop girls are there??

the comment about early december being one of the least crowded times is seriously out of date. by no means is it like the summer, but the parks aren't nearly as empty as they used to be during that time period...Disney has done a good job of promoting

This is a FANTASTIC time to go. We used to always go in early October, but after our first DEC trip, it's been Dec for us since then! Chance for some cool days is one of the few downsides. Midweek MVMCP, nevermind MK on Tuesday, MGM on Wed, etc, very light crowds. I mean, when you are jumping on Buzz 2 or 3 times in a row, you will feel like a genius for going this time of the year.

From the looks of the crowd predictors, it's much busier than it used to be, but still one of the slowest times of the year. It seems to be hit or miss.

I was in the first week of Dec. last year. The crowds weren't bad at all. This year we are going a little earlier. Nov.26th-Dec.2nd. Hopefully it won't be to busy then.

It's busy at the DVC resorts though, since the points are low this time of year. We're going in December for the 3rd year in a row; I do get a little tired of the all holiday music-all the time bit though

We didn't have any trouble booking for 12/01 - 12/10....The only "bump" i hit was having to stay at the Movies again instead of Music but it's not like I was disappointed....I'm wondering if the only reason Music is booked is because the Movies pool will be under refurb that first week....But otherwise, I was able to get MVMVP tix, the room (a Preferred Room, no less!), and air fare no problem (with DME). We are SO looking forward to this!!!

12/1 tru 12/10 is the Taping of Christmas Parade(12/3) and POP Warner week The All Stars will be packed with teens.

According to allearsnet.com, the Pop Warner is Dec. 3-9. So we will be going either before or after.

This will be our fourth year in a row going the first week in December. Not only are the crowd levels low compared to other times a year, but the weather is also great! Every time we go we say that we can't even imagine going in the hot and crowded summer.

We have never had a problem with Pop Warner...they are in their events/competitions during the days which works fine with our schedule!

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Stop telling everyone about early Dec. We really want to keep it our secret. Maybe should have a secret society where we tell eveyone that they shouldn't go in early Dec. "Oh no, early Dec. is a bad time to go. Wait and go closer to Christmas"

We LOVE to go in December! This will be our third year. I know we shouldn't but we take the kids out of school for a week to go. Probably the last year to do it since they are getting older and will miss to much work.

We've gone twice during that time and I thought it was crowded. Not crazy "summer" crowded, but crowded.

The first week of January was slow. I'll see how it all compares to the 3rd week of September when we go then this year.

My sister has been visiting for the 10 days after Thanksgiving for the last 8 years (with the exception of 2001) - she and a friend make the annual trek, and love it - of course now that I live here and her friend's son lives here as well, they have additional reason to visit.

We have gone to the MVMCP the first Thurs or Friday of Dec the past three years and will be going the first Friday this year as well. It's a tradition. Not too crowded!
