Still looking at BLT but the prices are crazy. Why is it so hot lately? Do you think the prices will come down?
It is probably because the points there are so much less than the other monorail resorts (especially for standard rooms that are virtually unbookable by those that don't own there). Also people who had been waiting for the poly to book on the monorail may not be happy with no 1 or 2 bedrooms and be taking BLT instead. Also it is the only semi-reasonable resort available for resale on the monorail.
Yep. BLT prices really took a jump and contracts became more scarce after the details of Poly came out. High point charts and no 1 and 2 bedrooms pushed some to BLT instead.
You guys just really opened my eyes to our Bay Lake contract's worth, thank you! (we bought there in '09, still haven't stayed there LOL)
Location, location, location.
Remember, Disney sells the Poly and Grand Floridian for $165/point, but has priced Bay Lake at $170. So, I guess they see more value at BLT, too?Umm, sorry, the question was why have the prices spike now. BLT hasn't moved, so there must be another explanation besides location. And there is, which has been provided by many posters above - BLT's spike is being driven by the Poly (and, to a lesser extent, the GF) and that BLT stacks up better against those offerings from a value/option perspective under many metrics.

The question here was BLT resale price. I did not pay attention to the reports on direct sales to see if it also took a jump in sales from that direction.
