Why is BLT so in demand?

Still looking at BLT but the prices are crazy. Why is it so hot lately? Do you think the prices will come down?

It is probably because the points there are so much less than the other monorail resorts (especially for standard rooms that are virtually unbookable by those that don't own there). Also people who had been waiting for the poly to book on the monorail may not be happy with no 1 or 2 bedrooms and be taking BLT instead. Also it is the only semi-reasonable resort available for resale on the monorail.

Yep. BLT prices really took a jump and contracts became more scarce after the details of Poly came out. High point charts and no 1 and 2 bedrooms pushed some to BLT instead.

Very confused about the jump in BLT prices. It doesn't make sense. I just bought BLT (closed January, points loaded February) and can turn around and make a profit if I resell now!

I personally think Poly std studios are cheap compared to BLT. I'm currently looking to book in January 2016 for a last minute trip, and am not even considering a BLT studio.

Poly std is 440 sq ft. BLT is 330sq fr. So poly is huge and much nicer in comparison. Poly is 16/19pts std per night vs BLT 17/19pts per night lake view (not going to compare BLT std 14/16pts tper night.... Not enough rooms).

Why would anyone want a BLT studio then?

Disclosure: we usually book 1 or 2 bds, and I feel BLT 1bds are awesome and huge....

I don't think many people buy BLT just for a studio (like the Poly). People want extra rooms. Also. BLT had 2 bathrooms in 1 bedrooms and 3 in the 2 bedroom. Only AKV kidani does the same. BLT has a community center and a walk to Magic Kingdom. Personally, I love the Poly themeing but unless they have 1 bedroom or 2 bedrooms the Poly is just a studio room.î

Location, location, location.

Umm, sorry, the question was why have the prices spike now. BLT hasn't moved, so there must be another explanation besides location. And there is, which has been provided by many posters above - BLT's spike is being driven by the Poly (and, to a lesser extent, the GF) and that BLT stacks up better against those offerings from a value/option perspective under many metrics.

Remember, Disney sells the Poly and Grand Floridian for $165/point, but has priced Bay Lake at $170. So, I guess they see more value at BLT, too?

The question here was BLT resale price. I did not pay attention to the reports on direct sales to see if it also took a jump in sales from that direction.

The resale price of BLT, being so much lower than the direct price for the other two MK monorail resorts, coupled with the low availability of Grand Floridian and Poly DVC resales, and coupled with the consumer confidence in the economy improving, has driven the price of BLT upward.

VGF is sold out and not taking any wait listers, few resales. Poly doesn't offer 1 or 2 bedrooms. So anyone wanting a monorail resort with 1 or 2 bedrooms is limited to BLT.

BLT price jump more or less was when VGF sold out.

Or they anticipate selling more BLT points when they oh I dunno build a second tower?
