Why is AKV the cheapest?

Looking at booking our DVC trip next year. Does anyone know why AKV is so much cheaper on points than the other resorts?

For the time we are looking to go :
AKV - Kidani 1 bedroom standard view = 153 (Arrive Sat, Leave Fri)
OKW - 1 Bedroom = 174 (Arrive Sat, Leave Fri)

I guess this surprises me. Is it strictly location? I would think families would love this resort, getting to see all the animals etc... We just stayed at SSR which I love, but the points there are even higher?

Just wondered how they setup the point system. I get the EPCOT & MK resorts because of their location being so good. I will continue to stay at AKV and save points, just wondered. Plus - the rooms are good size (bigger and two full bathrooms in comparison to SSR).

This is choice season correct? If I am understanding correctly, it looks like you took the friday night off for the AKV total but did not do the same for the OKW total.

As jplusm said, you are comparing 7 nights at OKW with only 6 nights (1 weekend night plus 5 weekday nights) in a Standard View at AKV. Seven nights at AKV will cost you 181 points. The only way to get 7 nights at AKV for around that price would be a Value 1BR for 158 points but then you will be in a much smaller room and won't have the extra bathroom.
