Why I'm posting a page from a 1948 Silver Screen magazine on the Restaurant forum

My mother's brother dated a "B" actress prior to his World War II service (from which he didn't return). I've been going through some of the magazines in which her name appeared and came across this ad in the July 1948 Silver Screen.

My Disney trivia knowledge must be lacking because I had no idea from where the name for the Pecos Bill restaurant came!

Ya learn something new every day!

I grew up knowing about Pecos Bill via Melody Time. The movie was (maybe still is?) available on DVD. Also in the Pecos Bill portion of the movie Bill's girlfriend was named Slue-Foot Sue. There was a character by that name in the original Golden Horsehoe Revue at DLR. That's very cool artwork, I'd frame that & display it proudly. :earsboy:

That is very cool. I had enjoyed watching the cartoons as a kid (I think they were broken up though, being reused in different collections) but had no idea there were old time stars like Roy Rogers and the Andrews sisters behind the voices and songs.

Next time I go to WDW I'll have to make sure I go to Pecos Bill and be more observant about decor and any Pecos Bill mementos.

Melody Time and Make Mine Music were two of Disney's package shows that combined shorts/featurettes to make a feature length film. Some of those were aired as individual shorts on various Disney tv shows. They're pretty cool if you get a chance to see them.

I don't know how I missed all these!

Well they aren't usually in the mainstream like most of the other Disney classics, I can see how someone could miss them. I think they're really cool in a very retro way.

:offtopic: My comment is off topic, but not in a bad way as the little yellow guy's face implies.

I never knew either of my grandfathers, so being a SAHG sounds like a fulfilling role!

I'm basically in the same boat, all my grandparents were dead when I came along. My DDs had two grandmothers and one grandfather growing up, and now DW & I are grandparents to two DGDs. Being a SAHG is pretty cool:)
