Why I love the DVC Board...

I can't lower myself to visiting the "Budget Boards" anymore. It's just so humiliating. What if my wife saw me there... or worse yet, my kids!! How Awful!!! Nope, I prefer the warm and safe comfort of the prestigious “DVC Boards”. Only occasionally do I find myself “slumming” and hanging around the other boards. It's not just that they are so poor (and boring), but their grammar and spelling is horrid also!

I must excuse myself now and light my cigar with a rolled up $100 bill. I’ll be right back.

BTW: j/k
;)

Montana Disney Fan,

You put the wrong smiley on your post. This is the new face of the DVC boards, according to MG: :snooty: Now enjoy that cigar lit with a $100 bill!

Y'all have been awfully gracious, both here and in some private messages ... I'm here frequently, but don't post much; my duties as a moderator on a board for Marine families keeps my computer time occupied, and I do have this annoying day job. And I do appreciate the thoughts and prayers for DS - you can't imagine what a bizarre combination of fear and pride we experience. He just shrugs and says, "it's what I'm trained to do." Lord, what that boy has seen at the age of 21! ... spending last Easter and 10 other days hunkered down in Mosul, under fire.

Back OT ... we are taking our best friends and a couple of other teenage girls (10 of us) to BWV in less than a month. We've got a studio and a 2BR, Boardwalk view. A couple of them have never been to Disney before. So, with barely contained enthusiasm and anticipation, I can't WAIT to see their faces when they catch their first glimpse of Boardwalk, and see the lodgings we've provided. And it's not about impressing them with what we "have," but rather what we're able to share. DVC, for me, is a gift, pure and simple. And, like all good gifts, it's designed to be passed around.

I'd just hate to know there were some sort of criteria one had to meet in order to experience this very special magic. I can't afford to send everyone to Disney who'd like to go and didn't have the means, but with DVC I CAN provide for a few.

Perhaps one day my heart will turn small and bitter, and I'll look with scorn at those who "shouldn't be there," or wonder (aloud) how they managed to get together the funds to vacation at Disney. Until then, though, I'll be the balding 48-year-old father of two, showing my white hairy legs, standing in the middle of Main Street U.S.A., and welcoming all who enter to leave their cares behind, if only for a day.

Put a dollar value on THAT, Bubba.

That's a beautiful sentiment and I totally agree. ::yes::

One of the the best pieces of advice I've picked picked up on this board was something I saw on another thread a couple weeks ago:

Snip...The best use of your points is using them for whatever makes you happy.

Of course, this is only my opinion.

MG

It seems that you have found the use that makes you happy.

All my best to you and your family.

LOL - Y'all come back now.

Now, where's Granny!:teeth: Ooh, sorry :snooty:

Thanks for the description Dreamfinder - we'll keep an eye out for you! All the best for you and your family.

I can't find a $100 bill to lite my cigar this morning, so I can not stay long today, but let me just keep this short for now. I will post more later on a different thread. If you have a business that goes after people with limited disposable income, the service you provide them will have to be much less than the customer who has more disposable income. Volume becomes important here in this situation also. For those of us that are members of DVC we are somewhat protected by this situation because of dues and the costs to buy in. At any rate this does not apply to the parks, restaurants and other places that try to attract everyone. Services have to be cut back if you have enough of the lower end customers. That plus 911, and down turn in the economy has made cutbacks at WDW in general very common. Well I have to run, I found my $100 bill to lite my cigar.

I found this board in Nov of 2001. They helped me out in a helpul informative way. I try to do the same when I post here and on other boards on the DIS. I do get a laugh out of my resort is better than yours, so there posts. LOL or is it:snooty: Even those folks give out good advice on veru serious things. It was DVCreg and Doc who helped me the quickest and most early on. I will always remember that. Then many others with to me were my smaller questions. I can see how others think of us a snooty. After you experience a wonderful DVC vacation for the first time, it is very hard not to brag here how great it is and different from the other resorts. I have had great times at all the resorts we have stayed at. I think MG's new symbol of us, done in a very tongue in cheek way is funny. So I am off to try and find someone to teach how to be :snooty: . Of course my problem is I am a very very very very slow learner. I hope I never learn that. Thanks to all who help or just come here asking questions and find out DVC may not be for them, because WDW is not a place they would like to be evry year or 2:eek: :earseek: I know that is a scary thought. I could NOT have said this any better. It completely discribes how we feel about DVC.

Thank you, that's very kind of you......however, in the future, could you please eliminate the word "usually" from your comment.:D

LOL!! Oh come on! Just because they share tips like bringing an empty bread bag to the food court soda machines so they won't have to buy a cup? ;) ;)

I like to find some secrets, or give some secrets away. The boards are fun and lighthearted. It's a great place to get ready prior to vacation. It helps us get in the mood.

Not eveyone is loaded so the Budget Boards are very important. Whenever I can think of a way to help out, I'll post it. I'll also offer advice on questions asked.

WDW is such an awesome gem that I promote it to anyone who will listen. Many of my friends have plenty of cash to spend but do not feel good about spending it on vacations. They prefer to spend it in other ways. One particular family was talked into going by my wife and I and we helped them to do it on the "cheap" with as much advice as we could muster.

They came back and raved about it. They had the best time of their lives and they had spent roughly 1/2 of what we usually spend for the same time period.

In other words: To each their own!!
