We have been owners at OKW since '93.. Kids were 2 1/2 years and 4 months respectively..never ever stayed anywhere else than OKW until last year.. (we go to WDW for 2 week every year.) ... .last year we got daring and stayed at BCV for 1 week, and OKW for the second.. we needed a BCV add on.. so we did!!!

So this year, we had a family reunion in LA, so we went to Ca/ Dl/DCA etc.. ..

We noticed the difference right away.. as we were packing, Dh said " why are we bring all these clothes" - cause we are not going as DVC and we won't have a laundry in the room.. oh no!! .. why we love DVC.. we have a laundry right there!!

Then we checked in, using points, at GCH, beautiful lobby, great theming, wonderful view off of our balconey of DT Disney.. but it was a little bitty room.. no frig, no anything, just a little bitty room with a beautiful view..oh no!! .. why we love DVC.. we have a several rooms and the kids and my Dad have their own bed!!

We usually eat in the villa 2 meals a day, - breakfast and dinner - (yes I do cook with my crock pot et al) this trip we have all of the meals breakfast , lunch and dinner - each and every one at the hotel, park or DT disney .. ....oh no!! .. why we love DVC.. we have a full kitchen, cool our water, pack our snacks and make our meals right there!!!!

So all of this has added up and we know why we love DVC and can justify an add on 'cause of all of the $$$ we save with laundry, food, and peace in the family without the kids and my Dad fighting over bed space..

Indeed, the reasons you listed (laundry, space, kitchen) are why we enjoy timeshare travel in general. We've had great experiences both with those we own and with those visited through exchanges.

Space, washer and dryer, jacuzzi tubs and kitchens are our favorite reasons for timesharing also.

Your post includes many of the reasons why we never stay onsite when we go to Disneyland. The hotels are nice and have some great theming, but for me there's nothing that justifies the cost to stay there (whether using points or cash) vs. staying at a Marriott, Hilton, etc. We bought our points for use at WDW exclusively, as we felt that's the only true value. But Disneyland was still fun though, right?

yes we had a great time at DL and DCA. We only stayed at GCH for 2 nights ( it was not worth the points but we wanted to try it and be in the magic) then moved to a hotel accross the street. We even got to go on the newly opened Space MT.
