My boys got their hair cut on Saturday at the MK Barber Shop. Michal did a great job. He really took his time with each cut. The shop opens at 9:00. We were #2 in line and were taken right away. It did fill up quickly after us, so I recommend going there straight away if you don't want to wait. Captain Hook came in while we were there. The boys thought that was fun. My 8 year old got his hair colored green and had pixie dust....he was slightly self-conscious at first, but it was great! The characters all loved it and talked to him about it. Peter Pan, Mary Poppins and Snow White all came over to him during the Spectromagic Parade to comment on his hair! It was an attention getter in a good way!

Tinks..

That sounds like fun. I will traveling with my 2 nephs who would probably love it. But I have some questions I hope you could answer.

1. Can u get your hair colored even if you dont get a hair cut?
2. What was the cost of the hair cut and hair coloring?
3. How long did it last?

Thanks so so much...

We all got our hair cut in June (5 of us). My 9 year old son got his hair colored blue. The cost is $15 for a cut (inlcuded color if I recall correctly). Didn't take any longer than a usual hair cut. The exception to that would be if you had an infant who was getting his/her first ever hair cut. Then they make a big deal about it so it could last longer. Definitely something to do. We'll do it again when we are there in April.:Pinkbounc ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I'm sure they will color without cutting. We would have tried that but they were really needing a cut, too. The haircut cost $12 without tip and $15 for adults. They don't have a separate cost for coloring so I'm not sure what they might charge just for color???
It lasted the whole day until we washed it out that night. It washed out fairly easily with one shower and didn't stain anyting. I'm sure it would have lasted several days if you want to leave it in, but it makes your hair pretty stiff when the color is in. It wouldn't have been comfortable sleeping with stiff hair!

Have the whole family go into the barber for a coloring job! They did it free of charge and painted little Micky heads on the back of the kids heads. DS12 got Blue, DS 8 had all his hair colored green, DD4 had red hair for the day. The green hair actually helped my 8 year old get picked for Sword in the Stone show. Merlin made a big fuss over his hair. Barber sprinkled 'mickey dust' on all of us. We all loved this lil stop and you couldn't beat the price! DD got her first haircut that day and they made a HUGE deal about it! Mickey ears that said "First Haircut" on the back, stickers, a certificate, and we had the barber sign the autograph book too! It was about $25 for all of it even though the bill was ONLY around $15! A must do for us now!

When you enter the MK, it is to the left near the parade start gate, kinda back in the corner of Main Street.

I know they have red but when on it has more of a pink color. DD loved it!

My daughter had her hair cut, no color though. The Barbershop Quartet with a couple of ladies came in and performed for us. One of the men looked at the girl on the chair with green in her hair and stated "hey look, tinkerbell sneezed" :hyper:

We are planning my daughter's first haircut for our August trip - does anyone know if you can make an appointment?

thanks!

No, it is on a first come, first serve basis. And the line forms fast! There are only two cutting at one time, so if the line is short, we always hope in it!

Several folks got just "pixiedust" (colored gels and Mickey confetti) when we were there getting DS's first haircut. They were all charged $5. Good deal for all the extra attention it got them all day!! Too cute!

I am 23 and I have always wanted to get my hair cut on Main Street. This August my grandma and I went and I got to get my haircut. I had to wait in line for about 1.5 hours....but it was a great spot to watch the afternoon parade and definately worth the wait (i went to the park just for the haircut so we were in no rush). I got my hair trimmed, she took off about 3 inches and did a wonderful job and then put my hair in a high ponytail and coloured it blue and yellow! Then to top it off she added in a pooh elastic and pixie dust! It was a great deal...only cost $15 plus a tip. I will definately be doing this again in March!

For those who don't want to walk around all day with Bright Green or Blue hair, Ask Michael about the "Glow-in-Blacklight" gel.
It was invisable in regular light.

He put that on my son's hair last year, it was awesome. Practially every dark ride in MK is Blacklit. His hair glowed in everyone. (and his face since Michael put some gel on his nose, eyebrows, ears and chin too. ;) )

Do many adult females get their hair cut here? I'm a grandma and I have short hair, and it might be fun to get a trim in WDW! Would I be out of place? And btw....do they do a nice styling trim? The price seems so reasonable (low!).

cindy_k : that pic is awesome!!! i might need to ask for a mickey on my head if i get a trim next month. you didn't use a flash on the pic, correct? I'm justmaking sure that if we take a pic it'll come out.

No flash was used. I took it with my digital camera, so I had to take a couple of them because you have be pretty still to take low light shots with no flash. The shutter speed gets really slow in low light.

Have fun!

There were several when we were there in December, and they appeared to be regulars! The stylists greeted them by name and asked about friends/family. I know one was a cast member...what could be more convenient than getting a trim at work? No need to go on your day off! But anyway, they didn't seem to be out of place, and the stylists (both were women our day) did a nice job. One lady had short, curly hair and the other had a conservative, just-above-the-shoulder-length style, and both went out looking neat and trim.

HTH,
Katie

I've never had my hair cut there, but getting my hair cut is always a WDW trip ritual. I usually don a completely shaved head. For three weeks prior to our WDW trip I let it grow. The night before we leave DW draws a Mickey head on the back of my head and we shave every thing but that, so I have a Mickey Mouse shape of hair on the back of my head. It's fun and always a conversation starter..
