Why go to Hollywood Studios now?

As bummed as I am about some of the closures (no more Phineas and Ferb, Animation Academy or Mulch Sweat and Shears), it's not a Disney trip for me without riding Star Tours 5 or 6 times, and at least a couple of rounds on TSMM. I know not everyone wants or can justify Hoppers, but this is why I love them. For next year, I'm planning DHS for my arrival day park, plus another day hopping between DHS and Epcot, and I will probably find time on another day to hop to DHS long enough to hit a couple of favorites.

FWIW, I did the math, and my 7 Day Hopper from UT works out to about $58 a day for unlimited admission to all the parks I can handle, which sounds good to me.

Now if they would extend the SW fireworks to at least April 9...

DHS will be our first day too in March. We were supposed to go during June for Star Wars Weekends but moved to Spring Break once it was cancelled. It's definitely not going to be the same, but we are going to take advantage of all of the Star Wars we can get, including the fireworks dessert party.

carrot cake cookie also at place between starring rolls and villains in vogue ive been getting them there for years

Beverly sunset is the name of other place with carrot cake cookies sitting outside of it now...couldnt remember name before

First of all, the only thing I am truly bummed about closing is the Writer's Stop (of course the Earful Tower will be missed too), that was our go to on-the-go breakfast spot (loved the Carrot Cake Cookies, but am glad to hear you can get them in another location according to Isildur's Bane). But as for the question is it worth it to go to DHS now that there are many more closings happening in the next few months? Well, to answer that question (at least for my family), we say yes, however it wouldn't be a full day park for us until of course SW Land and TS Land is completed. We are in the very early stages of planning out a trip in November and I had just asked my DH last night if we should even bother with going to that park while we are there due to all of the closures and construction that is going on. He said it would definitely be worth it for half the day just so we can ride ToT (well at least him and the kids can ride it, I can't stomach that ride), RnRC, TGMR, TSM, watch B&TB and Muppets 3D, and check out SW Launch Bay. Then of course have lunch at Sci-Fi (which is a must for our family).

I thought it was Sweet Spells, which I think is next door to Beverly Sunset. Maybe they have a pass-through, so it's pretty much the same store.

I've often felt like we were running around like crazy at the studios, crossing the park to try and fit all the shows in, and not accomplishing much. This past trip (11/2015) I used touringplans.com for our Studios day. I even used their recommendations for FP+. I can't believe how much we accomplished and how orderly it all was. Best idea I've had in awhile! We didn't see Disney Jr. or the Frozen Sing-along (no interest, DD is 22) or LMA (saw it last time... not hugely interested), but I think we hit everything else... and we didn't even arrive at Rope Drop! Definitely one of our best trips to the Studios!

We love Touring Plans and use it every trip. It really is nice at DHS, especially with trying to arrange the shows. Try it at MK. You will be amazed at how much you get done without being hectic.

we are both right because both names are on the building and reel vogue to...no wonder I cant ever remember the name lol

We love it. There are must do's at every park for us. Now that my son has been bitten by the Star Wars bug, I am sure it will be moved up to the second park we will go too during our trip.

HS was Disney's answer to Universal but Disney has been investing in other parks while Universal added HP to resounding success. Now they are playing catch up.

HS moved to a half day park the last couple of years and instead we added two nights over at Portofino Bay.

With my favorite ride (ToT) and another in the top five (RnR) plus my favorite sit-down restaurant (Brown Derby) I will never not go to Hollywood Studios, or whatever it will be called, when on a Disney vacation. I can see where families are being short changed there though. Without a park hopper it might not be worthwhile to take your children there for now.

I LOVE the theming of Hollywood in the 30s and 40s...love love love it! I would love there to be more immersion (if that's possible) into that world! I don't like when they have a "dance party" at the front though and the non-period music pervades Hollywood Boulevard. It ruins the effect. I think Walt would hate that since he was all about keeping the story intact and obscuring views from rides that would take the visitor out of the experience. Move the "party" and it's music somewhere else.) (said the cranky old lady...hey kids, get off my lawn!)

I don't mind the construction since it gives an air of "what's coming soon! what's next!" possibilities.

Have never gotten to ride Toy Story Mania because of the lines and wanting to use my FP on my other favorites. I also really like the Great Movie Ride but I would LOVE it if we just had Robert Osborne's narration and the sounds from the animatronics. Make it more like Pirates in that way and get rid of the hijack story line. That just takes away from it all.

Really the only reason we go to HS is for TOT, RNR & TSM.... So as long as they are open, we are good :) We try to get in and get out first thing in the morning and hit all 3...

Good thing we love Epcot though, just to hang out. With just TT available, if we didn't love touring the countries there'd really be no reason to go.

Once upon a time the three stores all located in the strip that was known as Beverly Sunset were Sweet Spells, Scary Apothecary, and Villains in Vogue (now changed to Reel Vogue). I think the intent was to have the whole strip have one name and then a different name for each store, but since they are all connected without so much as a walkway between them, it does get confusing. It feels like it is just one store with many different names.

I certainly wouldn't buy a separate ticket to go there, but with multi-day PH, I always go to see Fantasmic--I know it hasn't been updated much, but it's still the best. In the past, I've liked the Brown Derby, but the last time I was there, I wasn't that thrilled. So, if they get rid of Fantasmic! in future for any reason, you won't see me there at all. That said, the new Toy Story and Star Wars lands will certainly shake things up there. Hopefully, they will also add some new, interesting food venues.

HS was our first park on our trip in December. We had not been to the World in 6 years and it was DD5's first time. It was the absolute BEST way to kick off our trip. We were there open to close and didn't even get everything in. It was such a wonderful day for my family. I wish we could go back in time and do it all over. Started with RnR and ended with Fantasmic! Could not have had a better time :)

It's the weakest park in all of Orlando currently, not worth the 1 day (or even 2 day) price -- a park hopper only park. But it still has a few good rides. Although an absolute nightmare if any one of them go down.

Ironically enough, we WERE there at rope drop (though unintentionally) so I thought we were gonna do good since our TSMM FP+ was early in the morning, so it was the first thing we went on. We did loose some time waiting around for the character palooza though, which didn't happen that day apparently :( For the other parks, as busy as they were, I felt fairly accomplished (it helped that we went to MK two days), but I 've been telling my family that we should use touring plans next time we go.

See, for us, when there was only Hogsmeade, Universal was a half day for us (well, IOA, we didn't have any interest in the other park there) and HS was a full day. Now US/IOA is a full day with an expensive one day park to park ticket, while we would probably do a 3/4 day at HS.

For me, this park is still full of win. For 5 or so rides and maybe 4 shows, yeah I'd pay $5 to ride/see each of them. Then, I ride again. For Star Wars, I might ride it 4 or 5 times in one day. I don't mind paying $5 or $10 for characters and for the atmosphere either (even with all the construction walls coming). All in all, add it up and I'd still pay $100 to visit once or twice a year.

My family had a great day at DHS last August. RnR is my favorite ride and ToT is DD6's favorite. DD2 was in heaven at the Disney Jr lunch and show. We also rode Star Tours, TSMM, and Great Movie Ride. We took a mid-day nap break so we didn't even get to see any of the other shows. It could definitely still be a full day park for us, even without a mid-day break.

Different strokes.

We hop so the UNI parks are 3 days together, MK is 2 days, AK one and Epcot and DHS are 1/2 day each.

We enjoy going to Hollywood Studios - but usually for only half a day.

Going for a quick 3 day trip in February...MK on Thursday, DHS on Friday and MK on Saturday. TOT, RnR, Star Tours, TSMM, GMR, Star Wars launch bay, SW fireworks and Fantasmic! make it well worth it to us.
eta...we went twice in December and had a blast both times even though it was a madhouse with the Osborne Lights
