Why go to Hollywood Studios now?

With all of the impending closures and construction slated for Hollywood Studios, why pay the exorbitant price to get in for arguably 5ish attractions, 4 shows that have not been updated for the better part of a decade or more, and some mediocre restaurants (Not Brown Derby)? If my favorite attraction wasn't Tower of Terror, I wouldn't even think twice about skipping this park. We are even staying at Beach Club and I don't want to spend the time, money, or effort to trek over there. I'm curious, what do you guys still enjoy about the park? Or have you reached the breaking point like me?

It's never been a high priority for me, and especially now I have no qualms about skipping.

As for updating shows - how do you update BATB?

We've got it in the schedule for one afternoon/evening. Since we have a multi day ticket the price is fine. I wouldn't pay one day prices though.

With 5+ day tickets, extra days are only $10 each.

Still some nice thrills for a lower cost than adding Universal tickets.

YEP. Just wait until later in your trip to go and it will be a value of a ticket. I will still go.

For wifey and I the Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and TSM are Must Dos every WDW trip, Great Movie Ride is iconic (to us) and we enjoy strolling Avenues of America. Also we like Star Tours, Muppet 3D and the street shows. Our strategy is to hit a non-EMH park at RD every day then we hop to WS around noonish so it doesn't seem like a wasted park pass to us.

We're going for three days next weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and we're only going because there will be EMH. We have FP+ for Star Tours, TSM, and ToT. As much as I enjoy the Great Movie Ride and the RnRC, there's not much else, especially without being able to meet Phineas and Ferb or learn how to draw. We're really only going so we can see the Star Wars fireworks.

Honestly, you could make this same argument for EP (no Soarin', no Maelstrom) and AK (you pretty much have Safari, Dinosaur, EE, Kali and two shows), however, for me, there is more to a park than just the rides and attractions. In DHS, you still have three major rides (ToT, RnRC, TSMM), Star Tours, plus the addition of Launch Bay and the Star Wars fireworks. If there is a Star Wars fan in your family, it's THE place to go.

Honestly, for us, until the new Frozen attraction and the new Soarin' ride opens, our trips are on hold. My DS will want to meet Kylo Ren, so we'll be heading to DHS for at least half a day when we go back.

I was going to skip it on my upcoming trip that begins in just 17 days. However, with the new Star Wars offerings, I have decided to spend the first day of my trip there, with a friend who has never been to WDW before.

I think it will be a half day park for us. If we did not get hoppers, we would probably skip it. BUT, we are not a thrill ride family, so TT and RR have absolutely no appeal to us. We do love TSMM, great movie, muppets and Star Tours. They like the honey i shrunk the kids play area too, but I think it's closed now.

How about getting hoppers? We can't see spending much time in DHS or Epcot but have thought about a partial day just to hit favorites. Two days at MK and one at AK and the other two? I can't see going beyond 5 day passes.

I can certainly understand the different priorities part of the different parks. For instance, we don't really even go to EPCOT for the attractions anymore. Not that I'm a lush or anything (lol), but we enjoy having a drink or two and checking out the shops. The big thing is Star Wars doesn't hold any interest for us, so the new meet and greet area isn't a draw.

A lot of the 'Disney Magic' for me is the themeing of everything; the immersive-ness of it all. For us, Hollywood Studios has become a bit too disjointed in that department. Even when everything is done, I don't know if Hollywood Studios will be a good name for the park. i think Sam the Eagle would put it best: 'A Tribute to All Movies, but Mostly Our Most Popular IP's". Though isn't that what Universal is now and it draws huge crowds? IDK I guess I should just wait and see lol

2 of my favorite rides - ToT and RnR. On the last day of my trip last month, my DME bus was at 12:15. I was going to go to Epcot but decided to switch it to DHS. Got a ride on both!

That about sums it up for us too. I ride TSMM and TOT multiple times each trip, love the Muppets, also like The Little Mermaid show (mostly for the Under the Sea puppet scene). Have to do RNR and Star Tours at least once also, and usually hit the GMR. My kids used to like the playground when they were little. We always get park hoppers so I don't feel I am paying an exorbitant price just for HS.

DHS is terrible. Absolutely horrible. No reason anyone should ever go there EVER. Tower of Terror is just stupid. Rock n Roller Coaster is lame. Great Movie Ride is just some boring ride that will scare the pants off of kids and older adults with heart conditions. Toy Story Midway Mania will induce seizures. Star Tours will absolutely make you sick and taking non-drowsy Dramamine a couple of days before you go on the ride absolutely WILL NOT prevent you from getting sick on it no matter what you might have heard or read. And what about those shows? Fantasmic is clearly the worst show ever and a complete waste of time. Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast? So reason to watch those if you have seen the movies. Indiana Jones is so hum drum. Character meetings here are a complete waste of time and I'm certain Character Palooza is a big waste. Oh and the restaurants! Sci Fi is just so weird and the food is terrible. An d 50's Prime Time? Why would I pay good money to get told to eat my vegetables and watch them put my husband in the corner for putting his elbows on the table. No thank you. I will advise anyone to stay far far away.

Okay. Maybe now people will listen and not go to my favorite park so that I can enjoy it crowd-free ;) . I love that place. I love the rides, shows, and restaurants. I can spend so much time just walking around and taking in the sights. It is full of memories for me and I always make new ones each time I go. I love the romance of old Hollywood and love how they are able to recreate that on Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards. I'm cautiously optimistic about all of the changes they are making. I'm not a big Star Wars fan but think that the area might end up being something really great. If they put the effort into Toy Story Land that they put into Cars Land it will be absolutely fantastic. I just hope that they don't lose the identity of the park and maybe work to make that theme a little more obvious.

This post if hilarious to me! I absolutely love it. My family also loves DHS!
