Why get a 9:15 AM FP for Jungle Cruise?

We saw A LOT of people using Star Tours FP+s in both August and December when the posted wait time was 10 minutes or less (which really means "walk on" for Star Tours). It was puzzling, because in such situations, using a FP+ actually takes more time than going through the SB queue because you have to touch the second Mickey. We beat FP+ groups every time we went through the SB line with those short posted waits.

Maybe it was somebody who thought that it was a good idea to "burn through" their first 3 FPs as quickly as possible so that they could start getting more.

I've never agreed with that as an effective strategy, but there are people on these boards who have recommended it.

Tried it in August, and that worked well, but SB waits were low. Tried it again in December with moderate crowds and it totally didn't work because there were no decent FP+s available with close return windows even at 11:00.

It's better to walk straight on a ride and save the 10-20 minutes on standby. If time is an issue or there were no other options, then that can happen.

If a ride we have FP for has a short line, we use standby and change our FASTPASS for that's ride to a different FP ride before the first one activates.

I also wonder how many people know that you don't have to just take one of Disney's 3 suggested FP schedules - that you can adjust them all around. And as PP stated, people may certainly not know what things develop lines and at what times of day.

I would love to know this too. And doesn't Disney offer an option which let's them pick your FP?

Strange, I've only ever ridden AO once and it was the longest wait of the night at MVMCP. We tried again this year and ended up getting out of line after about 10 minutes and hardly moving at all, once again at a CP. I always thought the AO was a "red" attraction, meaning do it at rope drop or at the end of the night or don't do it at all.

It's such a slow loader and the elevator just makes it worse.

DHS has such limited choices that there may not be anything to change it too, especially if the family won't do ToT. I wonder how many people end up using their FP+ for low wait attractions, just because they have them.

This was probably the strangest thing I saw last week. I don't even know why we decided to do the Jungle Cruise so soon after park opening since it wasn't on my plan, but my wife and kids insisted since we were walking by it and the wait time was 10 minutes (which was only 5 minutes in reality), so we decided to go ahead and do it. While we were about to enter the Standby queue, I saw a family "touching their Mickeys" in the FastPass entrance. I didn't even know FastPasses were scheduled that early. But Jungle Cruise? That was one of their 3 selections and during a time when there was practically no wait time?

Return times start at park opening now.

Someone has to take the early times. It was likely a first time family that didn't know any better. Or perhaps it was a family who was trying to use their FP+ early in the day so they can get more.

They likely scheduled it before they even arrived in FL, and long before they'd know the wait time. Sure, people here are aware that Adventureland is empty first thing in the morning right now, but I'm more than willing to bet that there are many people who don't understand that the A&E/SDMT phenomenon is drawing so many people away from the others lands right now.

Another possibility is that they were local and AP holders. We haven't had AP's since FPP started, but I could see our family booking the 3 FP's first thing since we only tended to go at opening and only stay for a few hours.

If you have AP's and are staying on property and have room bands, do you somehow get more Fastpasses than someone without AP's?

Actually, nobody "has to" take the early times.
Those FP+ times don't ever have to be used.
Once the clock ticks past those times, unused FP+ positions during those times just evaporate.

Nope.

Three advanced FP+ per day.
After those are used or their times expire, each guest can get another day-of FP+.
After that FP+ is used or its time expires, each guest can get another day-of FP+.
After that FP+ is used or its time expires, each guest can get another day-of FP+.
Lather, rinse, repeat until the park closes.

Some folks here never seem to have 'reverse engineered' times to accomplish a specific goal.

For instance, if a family wants to have lunch at 12:15 and then leave the Parks or simply watch a Parade, then they must select a 9:15, 10:15 & 11:15 FP+ to not have a conflict with their lunch ADR or lose a FP+.

I select 9:15am FP+ for this very reason - with an expectation of riding crowd-free rides until almost 10:15am - when my 9:15FP is about to expire - then I use my 9:15FP.

If you want to say something about Jungle Cruise not being worthy of a FP+, maybe these folks do not do extreme rides and/or maybe they'd already seen Anna & Elsa.

Maybe it was simply their last day, they'd done everything else, and wanted a few simple pleasures.

Or, like any other possibilities - these folks may not have wanted a 3rd FP and simply did Jungle Cruise because Disney system made them take 3.

Just because you might not find pleasure in a certain type of Touring does not mean it would not lead to a pleasurable experience for others.

Another possibility, and this happens in our family, it is one of their favorite rides and they rode it once using stand by and then got off and got back in line using their fast pass. My kids always want to do TSM, POTC, and Star Tours more than one time and we often do them this way.
