Why early FD for Canadians?

I've noticed that this year the FD for Canadians started in Mid-August and this has happened on and off in the past. When we went last year they didn't have it (had a room discount but FD would have been more!) and we are thinking about going in 2016 mid-August so would love to have free dinning. Anyone have any idea why it happens some years and not others. Also when it does happen how far in advance do they put the offer out? :confused3

I would love to know this too! We have done free dining a number of times during the last 2 weeks of August over the past few years. I noticed that we had free dining but in the states it starts after Labour Day. We are planning a grad trip for DD next August and are counting on getting free dining again.. Here's hoping!:wizard:

I wasn't aware that there was a FD offer that started earlier for Canadians.

Could it be that these people booked a Bounce Back offer last year? I was there last August and the FD BB offer started in August but was available to all who booked the BB, not just Canadians.

I booked a vacation for a friend of mine from the 18th of August on the Canadian Website, that was two weeks ago! I wish I had known before we booked our flights and package on from the 31st! Oh well

Canadians generally get free dining a week before the USA, but it isn't offered until a week after the USA dates are announced.

We took advantage of that the last three years. This year we missed out on it but got a freidns and family discount that actually allowed us to get DDP with the savings

We didn't go to WDW last Aug but I have never noticed a different Cdn/US date for all the other Aug FD dates we went. Interesting!

Actually if you look on the Canadian Disney website you see that free dinning starts mid August this year. Last year we went last twi weeks of August and it didn't start till September. But I belive the year before it had started mid August for Canadians. Maybe they only do it the uears there numbers are down and know most Canadian schools don't start till after Labour Day...that's my current guess on how this works so maybe it's just luck when it happens.

Actually, the Canadian site is the only one I've been able to see for a while now. There used to be links at the bottom of the main page for the US and Latin America pages but they're gone now. Any suggestions on how to view the US page now?

I can get into both sites though I have to google the Canadian one as I have the other one book marked. Here is the address for the other one https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ I know a while ago it asked to update internet explorer so I guess that might be effect it. Seems there were all sorts of issues when they updated their site a while ago. Hope that helps.

BB offers begin Aug. 20th but fd for Canadians begins Aug. 17th.
