Why don't people use the search function?

It's great that people can come here and find answers to just about any question they may have, but really...how many times to we need another post asking "What is Fast Pass?" or "Where is Guest Relations at DTD", or my current favourite "What is the green wall in front of the castle?".

It doesn't bother me that people ask. I only read the threads that will interest me anyway.

Whats the green wall?

(just kidding) :D

 :rotfl:

I do use it, but I have had problems bringing up stuff I know that is in here... so maybe they try, but it is just easier to go ahead and ask. Afterall, there are people like me who don't mind answering the same question over and over... I get paid to do it at work, so why not?;)

I didn't know what green wall you guys were talking about, but hey guess what? Instead of asking a stupid question I used the search function!! Thanks Panama Mike!!!

I can never get the search function to work here. :(

Yeah, like the green wall, I like seeing the other topics listed here. For instance I didn't know about the ring at the Haunted Mansion, and would have never even known to search for such a thread. How can I search for something I don't know about? But I'm looking forward to looking for it.

Who cares if people ask the same question over and over?
Maybe people are busy and can't take the time to search. They can post their question, go to work and see if anyone answers when they get home. KWIM? I suppose there could be many reasons why people don't use search.
And if someone asks a question we've all seen a lot of times and it gets annoying, maybe we're all on this board too much and need to do something else?
That's just my opinion though.

When they updated the servers the search function had moved and it took me months to find it. It seemed every time I tried to search something I got the response "Server Busy" so oh well, I tried.

Wait, I know that I've seen posts where others asked why people didn't use the search feature and posters responded with their answers. You could have searched and found your answers without posting a new message, PanamaMike! ;) ;) ;)

I've tried on quite a few times and it doesn't bring up what I need. It isn't like the "search" function on your main web page. Wish it did, but I don't mind people asking again either. :earboy2:

Well ... the problem with the "too busy" argument is it assumes that someone else's time is less valuable than yours.

Things with Disney (meal offerings and reviews, early entry, park passes) can change so much, so quickly, that I think people also want to know they're getting an up-to-date answer. So, I say, post what you want!

Try doing a search for issues dealing with the month of May - like May crowds or May codes or whatever. I can't find a way to get the search engine to accept May as a search term (cause the word is too common). :badpc:

Actually I *do* use the search function every day just about but I think sometimes something pops in a person's head and they are excited to ask about it. Or they aren't familar with how to use search. Or they want to get more updated info.

I really don't mind any question that is on topic and honestly asked!

I use the search function all the time.....however, sometimes keywords will bring up a lot of "unrealated" information....not to mention it's easier and more fun to ask :badpc:

I use the search function all the time, most of the time I search before posting a new thread, but just as the pp said, sometimes it doesn't bring up what I need. I don't mind it when people ask stuff that's already been asked many times though. These boards move fast, threads that only need quick answers move back quickly. It's good to have fresh info. constantly too, things are always changing in WDW! :)

I think it's okay for people to post the same questions over and over. I learn so much from other people's questions. If I hadn't just been to Disney I wouldn't even know there was a green wall in front of the Castle. What if I missed the first "green wall" post, then I wouldn't know to search for the post to find the information.

My opinion - that's what these boards are for. Sharing questions, answers, and information. I'm glad everyone posts as often as they do. If I'm not interested in the topic I just don't open it.

I'm glad that people don't always use search. It's helpful to see things from a newbie's perspective, and up-to-date info is key. If I do a search and get info from a months-old thread, I don't have the benefit of opinions from someone who came back last week.

Especially with the new EMHs, for example, a "Saturday in MK?" thread might take on a whole new meaning...

So to those newbies who may be reading this, I say keep asking!

I guess if I wanted to find this post, I'd search under "Grumpy Posts". (LOL!)
