Why don't people check Snopes before they forward emails?

I usually reply to a few messages with the snopes or other relevant link. If they keep spamming me, I start doing a reply to all with the snopes link. That has always worked to get them to either start checking or stop sending me stuff. I did get an uptick when junk mail started coming with "I checked this on snopes" already in the message.

I am sooo glad that most people I know have stopped doing this I started sending them Snopes links after a while.
