Why don't Fl residents get same discount?

Do you guys really just not get this? A Florida resident should be entitled to the full discount if they are a DVC member, why should they NOT get it just because they already live a Florida and can get a residents rate as well? A DVC member is a DVC member and that should apply to ALL members regardless of where they live. It should be for EVERYONE..... NO EXCEPTIONS. Oh I guess I'm wasting my time here, it's just my thoughts, it's not going to change anything and it's certainly not worth arguing about.

I get what you're saying. You think they should have stacked the discount more for Florida residents. If you follow that logic, then Disney should let me get an extra discount on top of my DVC membership because I'm also a AAA member. I think it's pretty nice that they stacked it at all for Florida residents. Florida residents are still getting a better discount than I am living in Indiana being a DVC member. I thought DVC was being extra nice to Florida residents by allowing stacking on this Annual Pass discount. It's usually either one discount or the other.

I thought this post was a joke. I guess not

Disney usually does not stack discounts, you get one or the other. Allowing an extra discount for Florida Residents on top of the discount they already get is an exception.

Ok, in order to make it "fair," Florida residents should have a choice: either the FLA discount or the DVC discount.

What coupon have you ever seen that allows you to combine discounts/coupons? They're GETTING a break, people!

For crying out loud!

So I guess it was fair in the past that Florida residents got a nice discount and non-florida residents got NO discount, but it's not fair if non-Florida DVC owners get a discount and Florida resident DVC owners get a discount that makes their total discount still better than non-resident DVC owners, but not as good as it use to be in the past between Florida residents and non-residents who got no discount.

Following your logic, if DVC had offered a $199 discount, then you feel that a Florida resident DVC owner should be able to get a seasonal pass absolutely free. (Current price $199 - a $199 discount).

As others have stated, almost anywhere you go where something is discounted, such as with a coupon, it will be clearly stated that no other discounts apply. Disney was good enough to allow Florida resident DVC to have an additional discount above and beyond the regular Florida resident discount.

Maybe the most FAIR thing would be that ALL DVC owners get the $100 discount off the REGULAR AP and thus all owners would pay the same price regardless of their state of residence and all owners would get a better price than regular non-DVC Florida residents get for their AP's.

Or maybe I should complain that DVC owners can't get a seasonal pass while Florida residents can. After all, the seasonal pass is still cheaper than the discounted DVC pass.

Why aren't you complaining that the discount for children't passes is less than the discount for adult passes? It's simple, children's passes are cheaper than adult passes to begin with. Same thing: Florida resident passes were cheaper than non-resident passes to begin with. Under your logic, then children's passes should also have been discounted $100, the same discount as adult passes.

Would you have felt better if they had simply given every DVC owner a $100 discount off the regular non-discounted AP rate, regardless of where they live.

Do agree with your closing statement that it's not worth arguing about.

Nope, I guess I don't get it. The $100 discount off of a regular AP is available to all DVC owners, regardless of what state they live in. ;) ;) ;)

This post is funny. :earboy2:

I guess it is not fair that Disney does not offer a FL discount rate for cities/towns that border Florida?? :jumping4:

As a Florida resident I have always appreciated the discounts that I received. I usually purchased the Fl. Resident Seasonal pass because I really didn't want to go the parks during the busiest times of year. These times are during the blackout dates, so it made sense for me to buy this pass. My GF and I are now DVC owners. She is a school teacher so guess what times of the year are the only times available for us to go with her kids? That's right, the dates that are blacked out on the Seasonal pass. I guess I will have to go with the AP's, which are little bit more money than I want to spend. Having said all this, I think Disney should take the price of the Florida Resident DVC AP pass and offer this to all DVC owners. It would be great for everyone. However, if Disney offered no discounts at all for the DVC members, would it really matter? We, the DVC members, are still going to go to the parks and I think the majority would still purchase AP's.

Just my .02

I get it. I just don't agree with it.

A Florida resident should be entitled to the full discount if they are a DVC member...

Ah, the old "entitlement" issue.

Wanna know what discounts you're really "entitled" to? Whatever discounts Disney deems to grant. Period. It's their ballpark...they make the rules.

...why should they NOT get it just because they already live a Florida and can get a residents rate as well?

Quite simply because Disney makes the rules and we all live by them.

Why can't I get a 45% discount on Behind the Scenes tours (DVC 15% + AP 15% + Disney Visa 15%)? Answer: Because DISNEY says that the discounts cannot be stacked.

Why can't I get a 10% discount on Dinner at Spoodles as a DVC member? Answer: Because DISNEY says that the discount only applies at breakfast.

Why can't my 10yo who is too small for some of the rollercoasters get in at the "child" admission rate? Answer: Because DISNEY says that a 10+ pays the adult rate, regardless of height.

A DVC member is a DVC member and that should apply to ALL members regardless of where they live. It should be for EVERYONE..... NO EXCEPTIONS.

Correct. And DVC members living in Florida DO get additional discounts thanks to DVC. You might have a point if the discount policy specifically excluded Florida residents and just left them to pay their current rates. But this wasn't designed to be a flat discount system. There are different rates for child / adult / resident / non-resident / initial purchase / renewal...and so on.

Oh I guess I'm wasting my time here, it's just my thoughts, it's not going to change anything and it's certainly not worth arguing about.

Probably right.

IMHO, the OP should be glad DVC Fl residents are getting a double discount that results in the lowest priced AP available. Double discounts are a rare thing.

For comparison, consider:
Pop Century rack rate $79
AP rate $49 ($30 discount)
Fl resident rate $49 ($30 discount)
Does anyone seriously think that a Fl resident AP holder should get a double discounted rate of $19? That's just not reasonable.

1) First, people complained because DVC didn't get discounts.
2) Now they get them and they still complain.
. . . want all family members, not just household
. . . want all dependents, not just household
. . . want the same money for Florida and non-Florida people
. . . want friend they bring along with them
3) You just can't please some people.
4) Let's be happy with the discount and get on with it !

::yes::

This is too funny. They are not paying more; they are paying less. Everyone wins.

::yes:: This was my very first thought.

Hey...I used to live in Florida...and I wish I were living there right now...that's got to count for something, right?

I honestly first thought that the OP was joking. I guess not.

That is right on the money

Good Golly Miss Molly :confused3

Where is Solomon when you need him. Bet he'd make a decision in a split second and have everybody happy.

Truly, thank you DVC for helping our family members.

You know what you people need to RELAX and not get your "panties in a wad" over this..... It was a question! I wasn't trying to start a war and I NEVER said I was unhappy with the discount, GET OVER IT!

I was just wondering why I get a big discount on my AP's because I live in OHIO as a DVC owner but my in-laws who live in FL get a much smaller DVC AP discount? It doesn't seem like they are being treated fairly (it's kind of discriminatory) just because they happen to live in FL. Can anybody help me out here? Don't you think they should be entitled to the same DVC discount, they paid the same price for their points as we did??!!

Yes it was a question as well as a statement (see above) and you've received answers and statements in return. Just because you don't like the answers you've received isn't any reason for you to get upset.

I think I'll go relax now.

Just like to stick in my 2andahalf cents on the subject. When we renew our Florida residents seasonal passes, we get a $25. discount if we renew it before the anniversary date, so our cost for this seasonal pass is $175. We also have the Disney Dining experience card which is $75, and renewal by the anniversary date is $65. This gives us a 20% discount on food and beverages, including liquor. We do get better discounts being Florida residents, and I believe the reason for that is that Disney figures residents will make a lot more visits, and purchases and meals, so they keep the Florida folks coming back often with the additional discounts. And it works for us, as we go the the Resort around 40 to 60 days out of a year, and eat a LOT of food there. As I said, just my 2andahalf cents. :D

Discounts are rarely "fair". And it's rare to be able to combine any specials or discounts. Frankly, I don't mind one asking or even wishing for a combined discount, expecting it is another matter. If I take two $10 off coupons in to a restaurant, they won't usually give me both discounts. When I lived in HI, I could usually get things for about 50-60% of what it would cost anyone not from the islands, not fair but the way it is. Thinking Disney should give the discounts on the FL resident rates is a bit of a stretch though. But nice try, LOL.
