Ever change out all their shows? Out of all the changes they have at their disposal wouldn't new shows be an easy and relatively inexpensive way to revamp things?

I love the shows but after all these years they are getting tired, I don't think I will be able to coax my family into any of them this year. I would love to see them keep the old ones for a few showings a day, say in the mornings, then have a new one in the afternoons to shake things up

That's all, just thinking out loud

I can see keeping big productions like the Lion King and Nemo where the show is the attraction, but to be honest, I've never watched the Castle stage shows or similar ones. I know they've changed them some over the years, but they still seem goofy and hokey to me. Every time I see one as I pass by I think of the old Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney "hey kids, let's put on a show!" movies.

We don't watch any of the shows at the parks (besides Finding Nemo, LOVE that one!), but I do think that Hoop Dee Doo Revue could go for a new show. We go every time we go to WDW, the first time being almost 20 years ago and the show has never changed. I would just love some new jokes or skits, they wouldn't even have to re-do the entire show. I realize some people are just going to go once, but it would be nice for those that continue to go for the food/fun/atmosphere to change it up once in awhile.

I wish they'd update Indiana Jones - NOTHING has changed on that show, even the pre-show stuff is still the same old stuff.

Maybe because the vast majority of people are new visitors? I always wondered what percentage of guest are first timers? So if you have 75% of the folks there are newbies, shows aren't old.

I too wish they revamped a few, especially Indiana Jones.

Because for a large majority of the visitors, it is their first time going to see the show. While there a bunch of repeat visitors, many don't see all the shows on their first trip, so it take a long time to see them all. "Normal" visitors are going many years between visits. We see the extreme other end here of people that go yearly or even a few times annually.

Plus you have to factor in a huge cost of changing the sets, costumes, training and or hiring of new cast members. And you never know if the new show is a hit, vs the one they have now that are doing now.

If the new show fails, they have to start over.

We took a Keys to the Kingdom tour, and our guide said that about 50% of the daily park visitors have never been to WDW before.

But OP, I agree with you - for shows that have been there for YEARS (like Beauty & the Beast), would it hurt to make some changes??

occasionally. When we first went to WDW in 2004, there was a "Tarzan Rocks" show. That is gone and replaced by the Nemo puppet show.

We liked the Tarzan show much better, it was lively and fun, with great music.

The Nemo puppet show , imo, once you have seen the beautiful puppets, falls short in the entertainment aspect.

You guys make some good points.

I thought of both the first time visitors and the die-hard classic fans by saying it would be nice if the old shows had a few showings a day, or even one day a week. I would think having different shows on different days would bump up park attendance & hopper purchases so a benefit for Disney and a benefit for those of us craving something new.

I wouldn't want to see older stuff die out, just some new stuff too.

I wish they would do something with the Narnia exhibit. Talk about disappointing. There is so much they could do with that and all they have is a little movie!
They need to call me. I could give them some really cool ideas.

There have been quite a few changes over the years, some successful and some not. I agree that some of the older shows and attractions are classics and shouldn't be changed other than a little refreshing. I find it disappointing when a true classic is replaced. Then there are a lot of new shows geared for the younger crowd, which is good, but just a tiny bit lost on some of us dinosaurs. As long as there are still plenty of benches I'll have something to do.

Honestly, because too many people will complain that little Susie or little Johnny didn't get to see the show and then would request special treatment or refunds. Guest who are avid goers like the repetion and nostalgia and not very open to changes, additions but not changes.

I'd like to see a new Soarin' movie. Soarin' Over somewhere other than California. Lots of other places to see, and end it over WDW, like they end the original over DL. They could play the original on one side and the new one on the other side.

But as long as the lines are as long as they are for Soarin, they see no reason to change anything. The same thing would apply to any of the rides. If attendance is still high, why spend the money to change it?

Speaking of Soarin'
I think they should add some sea spray to your feet when you are going over the ocean.

I agree, I wish they had done Soarin' over Florida instead of just making the same ride as the one in CA.

Universal changes things up a lot. I think Disney needs to do a decent change at least once every 10 years or so. I'm not a believer in constant change, like having to get a new computer or IPhone every year, but a reasonable amount of change is going to be needed. If their sales aren't off, they probably have the lazy attitude that if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it.

I totally agree with you! We were just talking the other day about how The Muffet Show, Laugh Factory, The Tiki Room all need to switch things up and don't get me started on the HHDR. :headache:

The "show" I wish they'd change up occasionally is the Great Movie Ride. They should put something new in the Aliens, Tarzan, or the generic horror movie scene. Or make the Sorcerer's Apprentice scene something more than just a projected clip on a screen. And give the guides the ability to change up the spiel, kind of like the Jungle Cruise captains can.

I must say, though, that it would be perfectly fine with me if they never changed Illuminations again. I know some people don't see it this way, but I think Illuminations is a brilliant masterpiece of artwork that incorporates music, fire, water, fireworks, lights, the globe, and a wonderful overall theme regarding the history and future of humanity. I'd really be sad to see it go.

"That guy" in Monsters Inc. Laugh Factory is NOT FUNNY. Anymore.

I have that whole thing memorized.

Also, I feel we've bypassed the "future" scene in Carousel of Progress. :lmao:

You know the problems with that, right? The seats are at three different levels - so "sea spray" on the feet of the people in the front/top row would hit the faces of the people in the second row, and theirs would wet the faces of the back/bottom row. Plus, you'd have a constantly wet concrete floor, AMA potential hazard.
