Why doesn't Disney link your discount to your MB?

Every time you go your a restaurant or store, you have to dig and pull out the plastic card that came with your DAP, why not just link the discount to the MagicBand? This way the MB can just be what you need. I mean Disney puts your credit card on the MB, so you can pay with it, but you still have to pull out the card every time. The MB knows if you have an DAP vs day pass, but doesn't recognize the discount. Something is wrong there, they should take a look into that.

Thats and easy fix, your pass is matched to your finger, just put finger scanners in restaurants or stores.

I take a picture of my AP and my ID AND show the CM this and they give me my discount I always have my phone in my pocket my ID is in my backpack

wasn't the original point of the MB convenience? not having to look through anything in your bag, and just being about to FP, Pay, Reserve, Room Key? Then you should add it to the MB. Disney knows that the discount is rightfully mine and should be automatically given to me, as its in my contract.

You may have signed something agreeing to pay them each month but those of us that paid in full for a year didn't. I suspect what you signed was an agreement to pay them, not an agreement for them to give you a discount.

What's so hard about carrying your card? You gotta carry an ID anyway. What's one more card, that's the same size as that said ID?

I'm just saying, that the MB has everything about you, it's linked to your My Disney Experience, it knows what room your staying in, it knows your finger print, it scans you on rides to make sure your photos are linked, it's link to your debit/credit card, it has your Fastpass, dining, and show reservations, it does automatic checkin and out, and does all these things, but It can't hold a discount. C'mon.

Right, in order to save you the "hassle" of pulling your card out when you eat or purchase merchandise (maybe 0-3 times a day on average), they're going to spend the huge amount to update their systems, and install finger print scanners at each restaurant and store.

As people already said, it isn't about it holding a discount, it is about not giving an automatic discount.

Right. Must make sure the person that belongs to the discount is the one getting the discount. It's not to be shared and it's ripe for abuse any other way other than requiring an ID. Even a PIN code wouldn't do it, as someone could easily provide a PIN code to someone if they wanted to. And we all know people WOULD abuse the discount. Abusing sharing passes belonging to kids below the fingerprint age was what made them go to fingerprints for all.

Pre-Magic Band, I was a huge fan of DL CM’s always asking if you had an AP. I didn’t have an AP, but could always respond “no, but I have a DVC card”, so I always got the DVC discount (which they give nearly everywhere). So I felt happier spending more money there because DL actively solicited discounts.

DL just introduced online QS ordering with auto AP discounts, so it is possible.

I doubt it would be that difficult for the iPhone? Magic Band scanners at WDW to show the guests picture after they scan the band.
