Why Doesn't Disney Help Us Canadian Visitors Out?

Chase Bank? When did that happen?

But since I'm over it, I don't feel it necessary to look into it!LOL

But for my DisFriends, I feel obligated to do the full research and will report back!

Hey-Isn't RBC associated with Chase Bank now too? I think they have several branches in and around Orlando. There may still be a shread of hope!

Luckily, we can still drive across the border (without passports for now) and can fly on the wide variety of American airlines. For our trip, the Air Canada flgith would have added up to nearly $1000/person (4). By driving about 2 hours to Syracuse, we all fry for a total of $1400 Canadian, with taxes and fees!!!

I don't know if RBC is associated with Chase, but we have a few RBC banks here in Georgia. There might be hope.......

Hi CdnMom2

Are you going on the Wonder on December 4. Are count down clocks are same. Just checking.
HAve a great trip.

The Magical Express may or may not work with Canadian based flights. Huh??

Just clarifying that the Disney's Magical Express DOES work with Canadian airlines, except Jetsgo and the like. It works as long as you are flying into MCO.

However, keep in mind that this may only be a temporary thing. It is starting for the celebration of DL's 50th birthday party. It begins May 05, 2005 and very well may end 18 months later.

On a side note - go to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls for the day, get a room, ride just ONE single attraction and eat for the day. I GUARANTEE after you do that - you will NEVER, EVER say again that Disney is too expensive for Canadians. :)

If our VERY own tourist areas (like Canada's Wonderland, Ontario Place and Niagara Falls) won't give us a break on prices - why on earth should Florida?!? :confused3

I mean...at least WDW takes care of their own. Florida residents get a break at Disney.

So true! DH and I have said that many times. How can people complain about WDW being expensive. Try pricing out taking your family to Fern Lodge or another resort in Muskoka for the summer and WDW becomes much more reasonable.

Hey Scratch got my Disney Visa last week!!!!!
If you're good I'll even buy you a drink using it in August :rotfl:

Cheers,
Grumbo

There are a couple of things that Disney has done in the past that made me think that as a Canadian guest they really wanted to make it difficult for me to come and be a part of the magic.

The Magic Kingdom club for one was available to Canadian guests, when they were starting to roll out the New Disney Visa they cancelled that card but Canadians cant get the Disney Visa. That didnt make me feel that my buisness was that important.

Ordering anything from Disney Direct and the $30 shipping fees. Yikes. Or ordering anything from Walt Disney World or Disneyland Mail order the shipping was the same. However I was all ready to pay the $30 shipping fee's because I forgot to get something while I was there two weeks ago and they have dropped the shipping fee to 15.99 or so the CM said. I will wait to see my final bill.

Now dont get me wrong I love Disneyworld and all things Disney. I worked for them for 7 years but always noticed that even when I worked for the stores promo's that happened the US stores always got the better deal.

I was just there litterally 2 weeks ago and most of the people in our resort ( All Star Music) were either Canadian or from Britian. Minus the 16000 cheerleaders who left two days after we got there.

With the way the dollar is now I dont mind paying the regular rates. I did notice one thing when I was there. Did anyone else notice who has been down lately that the prices for souvies were a lot less expensive?

JMHO

Belle1997 -- that would have been neat! No, we're in WDW for a week before our Dec. 11 Wonder cruise. Couldn't drive all that way & not go to Magic Kingdom! Hoping for good December weather there & a strong Cdn $ for both of us!

RBC Royal Bank owns RBC Centura in the US. Chase is not affiliated (ie you can't get one of their credit cards) via RBC.

RBC Centura has branches in Georgia, Fla and the Carolina's (to appeal to the snowbirds market essentially).

Trust me if RBC could get me a Disney visa I'd be all over that!!!

However RBC has just launched a co-branded card with Starbucks maybe enough latte's would make up for the lack of at par offers this winter?

I certainly noticed it!

At the World of Disney Store and at our hotel gift shop (POFQ) the tshirts were buy 1 get one 50% off - and so were the games at both the gift shop and at the Once Upon a Toy Store. Also at Once Upon a Toy Store they had a deal where if you purchased $50 worth of goods, you could purchase the Walt Disney World HO scale train set for $15.

These were some really great deals!

I agree about the Disney Visa for canadians, would be nice if they were to offer something like that to us.

However, I have recieved a postcard, and used it for my upcoming trip in May to secure a great rate at WL.

Hi Tink:

Lucky for you to get a postcard. Has anybody ever figured out what list people need to be on to get a postcard. I would love to get a discount.

Deb.

Tinkerbelle! You received a postcard??? That's GREAT! I didn't think Canadians were eligible?? I've only gotten postcards that are just advertising what's new in the park, no discounts. Oh how I wish I knew how to get on 'the list'! :earsgirl:

If you want a good shot at "the list", mousesavers.com suggests registering for disney.com and disney.ca if you haven't already.

Ali

I think i got on "the list" a different way. When i went to WDW in August of 2003 with my parents and my best friend, we noticed a crew filming at AK. They stopped us and asked if we would like to do a few spots for the WDW website (if you go to WDW.com, click on teenagers, the guestimonials, were the first family to come up! Also in the MK guestimonials for "families with children" we're the 2nd family)

Anyways, they took down our information, addresses, emails etc...and I got a postcard address to me as well as one addressed to my best friend (who put our address as hers instead of causing confusion we were supposed to be a "family" with teens)

So im guessing my postcard had something to do with being in a Disney video :) You have no idea how psyched i was (and still am about it) go check it out.
