Why does she hate me???

So I innocently removed the plastic wrapper from the box. Next came the sticky "security" devices. I popped open the case and enjoyed the sight of the new video. So much potential in that little piece of digital plastic! I am putting my faith in her. Putting myself in her hands.... under her tutelage. I am excited about the potential and the possible results! I have admired her work on TV and now she is here, in my living room, to help me!

I click through the preview and pick the first workout. Level One.... I've been exercising fairly regularly for 15 months now. I've lost (overall) over 70 pounds. I am READY for this! I'll probably be up to Level three by next week!

I hit "play". It starts so innocently and easy..."swing your arms back and forth".... Okay.... NO problem! "Windmill your arms". Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy (I think to myself). "Circle your hips", "circle your knees".... okey-dokey!! "Jumping Jacks" Shoot... I am breathing heavier and my bladder... well... that might be TMI for you. "Push-ups".... hmm... not happening. I'm struggling even with girlie-types. Okay... I can get past this.

Moving on to using hand weights.... NO PROBLEM... got the 3 lb. weights right here. After one minute I head to the kitchen to get some lighter "weights" (soup cans work). But I can do this... I keep moving.

By the time we get to crunches I am sweating and swearing and just generally not happy. I am SUCH a wimp! HOW many more reps?? Are you kidding??

When I finally finish this torture that I have PAID good money for, I hit the shower. DAM... I can't even lift my arms to shampoo my hair. I squirt it on and figure the water pressure will do the rest. ForGET bending over to wash my feet! Okay... the soap from my upper body will makes it way down there anyhow, right??

So I have to ask.... WHY DOES JILLIAN MICHAELS HATE ME SO MUCH!!?? What a sick sadistic witch she is at 5:15 am!! :rotfl:..........................P

Just gotta let you all know.... the Nasty Lady and I (aka Jillian Michaels) have been visiting in my living room pretty regularly (Friday, Sunday, Monday, and today) and I am STILL hating her... but not quite as much.

I find I do better with her in the morning (the weak bladder is not such an issue)... and I actually did 12 girlie-style push-ups yesterday! (Only did 10 today.) DD says that my push-up style is bad, but I figure I am making progress.

And I am using my 3 pound handweight without problems except during the side lunge/arms up portion. So I am making some progress. But I figure I will be sticking to Level one for AT LEAST two more weeks! THanks for commenting...................P

i know what workout you are talking about... I tried it last weekend & only got through the first couple minutes (between the dog & the kids-the were all in my way) I'm going to try again this weekend-up earlier though--the squats killed my legs for the rest of the day!
 
It's the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. You can get it pretty much anywhere (Target, Amazon, etc) :)


We have the 30 day shred on demand and I love it! I am still doing level 1. I do it every weekday morning at 5:45 and then do 2-5 miles later in the day on elliptical. I'm also going to try her target zone workout today, the 40 minute one. My daycare provider just started it and really likes it. I don't know if I will move up tot the level 2 shred. I have lost just about 30 pounds and we leave from Disney next Sunday morning. Gonna try to be good all week. I have gone down 2 pant sizes. I also have a Wii Fit and like to do that on the weekends. The Wii Fit says I still need to lose 30 more but I'm comfortable where I am at the moment and will get back on the wagon after a vacation. I plan on having fruit in the morning with my yogurt everyday and at least one salad during the day.
 
I'm starting my second week of 30DS. I love it and hate it simultaneously, especially during the static lunges. I want to lunge right through the TV and give Jillian a smack for torturing me like that.
 
I just got Jillian's No More Trouble Zones DVD and did it for the first time yesterday. The workout is about 40 minutes, plus the warm-up and cool-down. I wimped out and used 1-pound dumbbells, but I'm going to try it tomorrow with 3-pound! I am feeling it in my hamstrings today.

I had to switch from using the 3 to 2 pound weights. Today was my first time doing this workout though I have been doing the 30 day shred, level 1 for about 3 weeks. I have no problem with the 3 pounds weights during that one. The only part I had trouble was the surrender move. I couldn't do it at 6 am and my knees have been a bit achy lately. I did like the workout and it had some of the same moves as the 30 day shred. I felt I did less repetition during the no more trouble zones but did more of a workout. I still do the pushups on my knees. I will try and do it again tomorrow and see if it is any easier. I also do 2-5 miles on my elliptical daily. Tonight I will do 2-3 more miles while watching Biggest Loser. I watch it and pretend Jillian is yelling at me to do more!

I can't even do a decent pushup on my knees! That's great that you do your cardio plus a Jillian workout on the same day. I am alternating them.

I'm also going to WDW on the 19th, and had hoped to be SO much slimmer...oh well!

I started working out right at Christmas when we got a Wii Fit and I have lost just about 30 pounds. I've never been able to lose weight before and have somehow been really motivated this year. I use the Wii Fit on the weekends mainly now for about 30 minutes. I only have alcohol on weekends and limit it to one or two drinks. I plan on having a few more while on vacation and hope to only gain 5 pounds though with walking 8-10 miles hopefully it will be less.
I still have about 30 pounds to go for the ultimate goal according to the Wii Fit but I am down 2 pants sizes and those are even loose too. I bought a couple pairs of size 12s for the trip!

Have fun and maybe we'll run into each other. All of our shirts have our nicknames on them. I made a bunch of shirts from the Disign boards. The girls shirts ay Woobie and Peanut! DH's and mine say Mommy and Daddy and I have an awesome orange shirt covered with Tiggers! We're staying at AKL and then our last 2 nights at POR.
I sooooo can't wait until Sunday. Of course we have to leave our hosue at 3:30 for our 6am flight but it will be worth it once we are there. MK our first day and AK the next day!

Congratulations on your weight loss! Do you attribute that mostly to exercise, or did you also change your eating habits? I lost 25 pounds in 2003, and have exercised for years - but not consistently enough. I didn't pay attention to what I was eating, and the weight crept back. I am determined that the next time the weight goes - it will be gone for good!

I don't arrive at WDW until Sunday night, and then will be at the parks just 4 full days. My birthday is on the 22nd (Wed.), and I will for sure spend Wed. and Thurs. afternoons at Epcot listening to Off Kilter! :)

I have been doing both. I have cut back to 1200-1500 calories a day. I usually have a yogurt in the morning before doing the elliptical and I just count my calories throughout the day. I do treat myself to a skinny cow or lately a small handful of m&ms. I also have cut back on serving sizes. I have discovered recently that I can't eat as much greasy food and regular ice cream without feeling miserable. I only eat slow churned ice cream with 1/2 the fat. I only buy 93% fat free hamburger and have been using ground turkey in my enchilladas and chili. I actually even like it now. I even made a quiche last week with turkey bacon and egg beaters and low fat cheese. I never thought I would be able to lose the weight.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm happy to be able to share how I made this life style change especially because I never thought it would happen.
I just did 1 more mile on the ellipitical and my left knee started really hurting so I will probably be taking the next few days off from working out except for my crunches and eating healthy and lots of water! I will be walking so much next week that I need to save my knee for then and I will be going out tomorrow to get a knee brace to help out with it.

Thanks! At Off Kilter - I usually stand on the left side (facing the stage) near the light post/drinking fountain. Just ask for Nancy - or look for the lady with the birthday button!

I write down what I eat, and I sometimes have a LONG list! I don't count calories, and I'm sure that doesn't help.
 
Got a knee brace this morning. Did 20 minutes of free step on the Wii Fit this morning and am going to do more tonight while watching tv. Knee feels better than last night but I'm still going to take it easy. Want to be able to walk next week. Will probably throw the knee brace in the suitcase just in case it starts acting up again.
