Why does my wife never get a blue member card sent to her?

I'm at 10+ weeks after our contract closed (over three months after we signed the paperwork with Disney) and still waiting. This seems to be a common problem now.

It's always taken a while. They probably wait until a certain number come in and run them in batches. At least they offer the digital version now so you can make use of all those sweet, sweet perks right away...

I know, but we have a vacation coming up and I had wanted to visit the lounge, get the restaurant discounts etc., but I have heard accounts of CMs not accepting the digital card. Hopefully they are more used to it now and will accept digital.
 
I had to tag-team between member services and my direct sales contact in order to get the blue card printed for my wife. Initially, my wife's DVC account wouldn't activate, then we got it created but I couldn't print the card due to an IT issue, two months later they claimed it was fixed and sent both cards (mine 3rd time) in separate mailings, and then... my wife's DVC account was deactivated which I had to reactivate. So... good thing you are starting early in the process to get blue cards printed for everyone.

We’re now three months in without cards. I guess I will be stuck with the digital card for our welcome home trip in a week.

Haha too funny—it arrived in the mail TODAY! I am very happy but seeing that April closing date on the certificate sure hit home how long it has been. They are so understaffed!

Several years ago when the blue cards were pretty new, someone here on DISboards said they had been told that DVC contracts them out for production and mailing and that they're only done in batches now, with months between batches. If true, that could explain why you and @jpeterson both received them recently.

That actually would make a lot of sense. Of course, now I'll probably get another one a few months from now because I kept checking in with member services so often that recently one the member services folks said they just ordered me another one. Oh well, guess it won't hurt to have a backup just in case I lose one.
