Why does my ice cream scoop get icky?

No matter what ice cream scoop I buy it gets icky on the inside of the scoop after a while. My Mom said hers gets the same way. It almost looks like someone took sandpaper to it.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER PUT YOUR ICE CREAM SCOOP IN THE DISHWASHER!

This is my number one returned item because no matter how much I warn people, they still stick it in the dishwasher.

And yes, the soap is too harsh.

Yep! I never put mine in the diswasher unless I know they are solid stainless steel. Dishwashing soap can be pretty unforgiving, so I always hand wash my scoops and they last a really long time. The only one that didn't was a Pampered Chef one because my husband kept leaving it in the sink, turned so that water stood in the scoop, and it ate away at the silver coating.

Too funny! I just posted that my PC scoop was the only one that didn't last! DH kept leaving it in the sink with water standing in the scoop, and the coating came off. We got another one, and the same thing happened. So, that was the end of PC scoops for me. I have lots and lots of PC stuff, and this is the only product that didn't work out for me.

I agree they are more sensitive and truly I give mine more of a quick rinse with hot water than a full soap scrubbing.

Our problem was letting it sit in the sink for too long. I never could get the family to wash when they were finished!
