Why does my dog like riding in my car so much?

I can't figure that hound out sometimes!

Few things thrill him more than a ride on the car. We have to be careful not to say the word "car" (or even spell it) around him. He goes berserk with excitement at the thought of going for a ride.

He hates the vet's office with a passion; you'd think he'd be afraid that's where we're going when we get in the car.

But no. If we go out for a walk and my car is in the driveway, he makes a bee-line for it.

Max just loves the ride. He sticks his snout out the window, drools all over the door (yuck!), and is as happy as can be the whole time we're moving.

I guess Max likes the fresh air and the freedom of being on the road. At least you know you have a companion to keep you company.

Gibson LOVES the car too! He likes to perch right there on the front passenger window with his paws and his head out. Only problem is, sometimes his legs fall off the seat and he's left hanging there by his front paws!

He also likes going to the vet, and going to pick up Allison from school (we park and walk up to the school where he gets petted and adored!) He's a very social dog! :) :)

Charlie loves going for car rides with my daughter. Seventh heaven. Kita used to love it as well.

I think it must be something about the dog species. It's been a rare dog that I've known who didn't love car rides.

Unfortunately, my 9-month-old does not like car rides. We have to put him into the car, and if we don't give him an anti-nauseau pill beforehand, he'll either drool or throw up at some point during the ride. I'm sure hoping he outgrows this.

My beagle has always loved riding in the car.

He doesn't care where. He has to sit in the front pas side too, not the back.

Jeez, He get a lot of looks.

He's good company.

Our Sassy girl is the same way. I don't know why she loves to ride in the car so much :)

My dog, Sandi goes to school with me everyday too! We drop off at 8 then pick up DD at 11:30 then pick up DS at 3:15. Sandi (the dog) gets SOOOOO MAD if I tell her that she can not go along! She will stand at the garage door right on time everyday and wait for me to open the van door. She likes to ride in the back seat of the van. :D

My dog is the exact same way, she loves to ride in the car!! When someone leaves, she sits by the door and cries because she wants to go ride in the car also. Whenever you say "wanna go for a ride in the car" in front of her she goes crazy! As soon as someone opens the front door, she runs outside to the car. Sometimes she's pushy though, and has to get in the front seat, so everyone else who is not driving has to sit in the back. All we have to do is roll down the window and she's in heaven. She always has her head out the window and usually gets her fair share of drool on the window.

Our Lady does the same thing! Straight for the car! And WHEN we do take her, she drools all over the windows! Not very pretty!

Oh yeah, here's something I was looking at buying for Lady as well, check these crazy things out!: http://www.doggles.com/

Both of my Weims were/are absolute morons in the car! They just can't contain themselves! I drive an SUV, so I put the back seats down so he can walk around and have more freedom.

Well, he paces, back and forth, back and forth. Then he sticks his head out the window and bites at othercars as we drive by them! And he is continually trying to sit on my lap! You should see the condition of the rear view mirror after he gets out!

He is such a clown!

After we get back, I need a valium!

My Cody is the same way.. if she even sees someone get thier jacket on , and walk out to the car, she makes a beeline for the car!

And then the poodle, afraid he is going to miss something follows her!

The Lab (Cody) can get a running start and Land in my DH's Explorer.. but the poodle cant!

McGee LOVES car rides. If you mention CAR he goes insane. If he is being naughty and has escaped the house, all I have to do is yell "McGee, want to go on a car ride" and open the car door...he hops in EVERY single time. Sometimes he gets to go on one and sometimes he is foiled again and goes back in the house. ;)

A coworker of mine has a cat that loves to ride in his car. Nothing weirder than to see a cat looking out of a car window. :)
