Why does my deal not feel like a deal?

Is this a good deal or not? I noticed some of the posts stating they were getting Poly w/air and transfers for approx 855.00 per person for 7nights? Granted, it appears they are flying in from the east coast, but their rate seems so much better for a deluxe than my mod quote? Plus they get transfers and air?

Am I crazy? Am I not giving the correct codes? I gave my DC membership and ZREW? The cast member I spoke with didn't really seem interested in trying different scenarios, plus I'm at work without much time to play around....

I just booked:
Coronado 7 nights - Waterview
2 adults & 1-10yr old child -
UPH for all included
$1496.01 incl tax

OK so this is $498.67 pp without ins, airfare or transfers - now if I find a great deal out of LA for say...$200.00 pp r/t air - that puts us at $700.00 ea - now the poly would only be $155 more each for the same amount of time? What am I doing wrong?

Would they give you a better deal if you include air and transfers?

What do you think? (sorry I'm so blank on this, I haven't posted or looked into this stuff for a really long time!)

Thanks,
B

If you take the Poly's rack rate, multiply that by 4, add taxes and then passes, you get approx $1900 for two adults in that room, now if you add in two children over 20, you're up to $2500. Add in usual airfare from the East Coast of $200 a piece, you're up to $3300, divided by 4, that's $825 per person. You only have three people in your room, so your only splitting the hotel cost 3 ways instead of 4 ways. You have to remember that the room has to be paid for regardless how many people are in the room. You have to look at total costs, not per person, since the more people you have sharing the room, the less per person it will look on paper. To make it easier:

Your hotel portion is costing you assuming value season, $533 the Poly would be costing the other people $1333. The passes are the same price regardless of accomdations. So, if you have more in the room, you have more people to ammortize the room costs over, making the per person costs lower. I hope that makes sense.

The ticket for your 10 yr old is the same price as your adult ticket. At 10 a kids becomes an adult for tickets. My son will turn 10 during our trip on FTP and so we can purchase a kid's UPH for him. Confirmed that with the CM.
