Honestly, Ive only been there once to eat at Ohana's (Which wasn't called ohanas when I was there), and didn't really notice anything that stood out, but everyone seems to love this place. Why? Honestly Im asking because I don't know - I truly wasn't even paying attention to it that one time I was there to eat. Fill me in! I feel like Im missing out on something!

I love the atmosphere, the Volcano pool, the beach, the view of MK esp. for Wishes, the restaurants, the landscaping..you name it. Its very nice and comfortable w/o being too:snooty: as my dh would say:laughing:

It's not my favorite resort but I did enjoy my stay there. The theme is very different from any thing else (I like different) and I love that its on the monorail line.

I really enjoyed the monorail access and eating at Kona when I was there. Having been to the YC I appreciate having a 24 hour food court at Captain Cook's. It is a very relaxing place. I like YC better now, but I'll always have a spot in my heart for the Polynesian.

I think they put something in the water over there. It's a nice hotel, I enjoy it there, but there are others that IMO are just as good or better.

But the DISers love it best. Ask them where they'd rather step in dog poop, the Poly or some other hotel, and you'll get a bunch of posts saying that the Poly dog poop just has an extra-special something over other dog poop. They'd MUCH rather step in the Poly dog poop.

I think the Poly has fabulous restaurants, including their fast-food restaurant which has been newly refurbished. We like the large standard room size and the refurbished rooms are awesome with the flat screen TV built into the wall unit. We also like having the TTC right there so we can have direct monorail access to both Epcot and MK, no stops. I also like the relaxed atmosphere at Poly and the view of the Castle from the volcano pool. And watching Wishes from the beach at Poly.

We especially like that the standard room views offer awesome views for the most part. For example, this is our standard room in Samoa 3rd floor:

We have stayed there and did enjoy it. I think it probably has the most devoted following of any other WDW resort IMHO. It does seem the most Disney-like to me (retro, Tiki Roomish, Adventurelandish, something?). That being said, it's not my favorite resort and I would only go if I got a really good rate (the Poly rates seem totally out of control to me but they are able to command that price I guess):confused3

On the DIS at any rate. Good resort, but there are better -- BC, YC, BWI for instance. Swan/Dolphin too. My bias is towards Epcot so those are the resorts I like

I think it's just the relaxing atmosphere. We were at the Poly numerous times before we stayed there & I didn't find anything special about it either.

It wasn't until we actually spent a few nights there that I really fell in love with it. We are DVC owners, but our favorite resort to stay at when we're not "home" is the Poly.

It's definitely magical! :goodvibes

I just have a quick question. Do the standard rooms at the Poly offer a seperate vanity from the bathroom.
Thanks

I hadn't really given it much thought until our wedding there. There was quite a bit of down time before we made our way up to sunset point, and I have to say that the grounds were beautiful. I can see why people love it.

Oooo...me, me, me...I'll step in dog poop at the poly!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

1. Theming is fantastic -- truly integrated into everything there.
2. Proximity to MK
3. Monorail
4. Volcano pool - where else can you watch Wishes from the pool?

I'd only step in the Poly dog poop too. :)

The atmosphere (minus any doggie droppings) is always so fun. It is casual and relaxing. We've eaten at both restaurants and Captain Cook (but not the remodeled Captain yet!). We just love the KONA.

And let's face it ... no better coffee anywhere in WDW! :thumbsup2

Kinda sorta. The vanity (which is big and has underneath thingies that are big) is next to the shower. Behind it there is a toilet with a door. So, one person could be using the toilet while another is brushing their teeth...but you can't have one stepping out of the shower and one at the vanity without having them both standing there together.

There is a nice, big mirror in by the beds, if all you need is a mirror.

Clear as mud?

allearsnet.com has excellent pics of all the hotels and they get really detailed bathroom pics. I always wondered why they had all those pics of bathrooms. Now I think I know. :)

refurbed rooms are beautiful, and oh so comfortable. We stayed on the top floor of the Tahiti building last year, facing the castle...perfect view of the MK fireworks. Was easy walk from our building to TTC. Great fast food, TONGA TOAST, beautiful grounds, great pools, etc. Loved it

While all of the PP's are correct when they say the Poly's theming is amazing; the atmosphere is wonderful; it is like taking a second vacation for the price of one. I have also heard others say that the Poly has another advantage in that many of it's CMs have worked there "forever". For some, vacationing at the Poly is is even more like coming home as they know they will see some familiar faces.

Another great advantage the Poly has is it uniquely has direct monorail access to both MK and EPCOT. While monorail transportation is direct to MK from the GF, CR and Poly; only the Poly can also give direct monorail access to EPCOT. From the Poly you can walk over to the TTC and board the EPCOT monorail there. From GF and CR, to get to EPCOT, you must first take a monorail to the TTC and then transfer to an EPCOT monorail. Taking this extra step out of the equation in the morning and especially in the evening can be a real time saver!

We've stayed there, but we're not big fans. It screams the 70s to us (but so does architecture in Honolulu). We'd never pass by a stay at GF to stay at Poly.

It has magic and is one of the original WDW hotels. For us the attraction is sentimental. We love our DVC but nothing will ever compare to the Poly for us.:lovestruc
