I was so siked about this ride but hearing now that it makes some people sick is turning me off a little. Whats the scoop???
Thanks

I have also heard about the motion sickness that is caused by the "backward" motion of the ride. I want to ride EE, so I am taking Dramamine that morning so hopefully the motion sickness won't rear its ugly head. :teeth:

Everything makes me sick so I won't even try it. As far as motion sickness in general, people seem to be bothered by different things. Some are bothered by spinning, some by bumpiness, some by going backwards, some by confinement, ect. It just depends. I would say if you never got sick on a coaster before you should be fine.

For me, it's the backwards part. If you get motion sick riding backwards in a car, you might have a problem. I didn't actually get sick (like Mission Space would make me), but I didn't feel great for about an hour. And I couldn't have ridden twice. I'm taking dramamine next time!

I don't think it is enough motion to worry about.
I got a little quezzy feeling but it lasts such a short time I think it would be real hard to get a sustained bout of motion sickness.

I start to get motion sick walking too quickly in the super market while looking down the lanes!!! I have to be REALLY careful what I do that could POSSILBY cause motion sickness. Dramamine would knock me out, I would be back at the hotel napping.

I would think it really depends on you and how you handle motion. Not everyone has to sit watching the horizon

Less Drowsy Dramamine might be the answer if regular Dramamine knocks you out. I can't take the regular kind but the LD is terrific. No sleepiness at all afterwards. :)

EE does have a brief stomach-churning moment when the backwards motion is at its peak. Never bothers me (I'm not prone) but if drops on coasters are uncomfortable for you it may be a bit twinge-inducing. I'm guessing it bothers a small minority; I've never noticed it as a topic on the boards until today (doesn't TPA&S seem to be 'heaving' with motion sickness topics today? :teeth: )

I get nauseous on simulator rides and some loopy roller coasters. I also can't read while riding in a car. EE didn't bother me at all.

The backward motion on EE made me mildly queasy and motion sick. It probably took 15-20 mins to feel normal again after the ride ended. I am prone to motion sickness in cars but had never gotten it on a ride before .. so this took my by surprise.

MythBusters says find Ginger Pills. Short of that, drink Ginger Ale before you ride the ride.

I do the "jet pilot press" during the backward section of the ride. By tensing my muscles in my abdomen (& lower - if you know what I mean), it keeps my diaphram from pushing on my stomach. This lessens the feeling of nausea and motion sickness. Try it. It really helps.

Hi,
It did not cause out right motion sickness but made me feel "a little off" for the rest of the day. It was the part backwards part that through me a little. Give it a try once for yourself.

The ride goes backwards then forwards and I was green the rest of the day. I dodnt even think it was as good as Rock n roller coaster or splash mountain so I would not try again. :crazy2:

Don't bother with Dramamine. I've always used Bonine. You get the same effects of Dramamine without the drowsiness. I won't go to any theme park without it. :)

I'm going to pick up some bonine... sounds like a good ounce of prevention!!!

I have been on rollercoasters that go backwards before and they do make me sick... I had been wondering about EE, but this is the first I have heard about it (causing motion sickness) on the boards (we all know that this is the only place to get your disney information.)

Now I know that I definatly need to get my LD dramamine or bonine.

I do not normally ride roller coasters due to motion sickness. I can do BTMRR with no problem though as long as I only do it once. I decided to try EE after I heard it was "just a little more intense than BTMRR". And I was scared to DEATH while on it! I got off and as soon as I stepped out of the cart I had to grab onto the wall as I was so dizzy I couldn't even stand up. I had to go sit down outside the ride and then within 2 minutes, the motion sickness set in. I was pretty much not feeling well for about an hour or 2 afterwards. I'm glad I got to experience it, but I will NEVER do that again. I too am one to get extremely tired with dramamine, I do take the less drowsy one when I go on planes, but I take only 1/2 a pill if it's under a 3 hour flight. Please don't take regular dramamine, you'll be sleeping on the ride!

I also have motion sickness. DH and I took a cruise for our Honeymoon and I got very sick one evening. I tried the pills (don't really remember which ones) and they didn't work at all. When I spoke to the ships doctor he suggested sea bands. They are bands that you put on your wrist. They have a plastic piece that pushes into a pressure point in you wrist. This really helped. I wasn't sick for the rest of our trip. I would suggest trying sea bands instead of taking meds that coukld make you feel sleepy.

Who knew there was a name for what I do on Splash Mt??!!! And I do the exact same thing on EE because it worked so well on Splash. The backwards part is very short, maybe 10 seconds, but it can be fierce...it tends to pull my head around and I have to be careful, but it's not for very long. And I really think that your position in the ride, front-back-middle, has something to do with it...it didn't bother me as much further towards the front but the back was a bit worse.

For me, it's the backwards part.

I took ginger capsules (bought them at GNC) and the backward part made me feel just the least bit sick but by the time we walked the Maharajah Jungle Trek I was fine.
