Why does Disney need 13 ships?

I really worry the cruise ship industry is over saturating the market. Look at the new ones Carnival announced, RCL has more ships on order as well…

Considering how ports are seeing some protests over mega ships dumping thousands of tourists for a few hours in locations that can’t handle it and Alaska tightening up port access it’s going to be interesting.

DCL was offering lots of VGT discount even during prime summer season… I’m not sure about this plan to expand so rapidly- 5 to 13?

Cruising is super popular right now but heaven forbid another pandemic hits and with what is happening around the world I just have my concerns.

Well, I have no idea what Disney's profit margin is, but just looking at how much higher even their VGT fares are over other cruise lines, they have a LOT of wiggle room to cut prices and remain profitable.
I am very supportive of ports that are restricting or banning cruise ships. I totally get their concern. When you have a town like Bar Harbor, Maine with a population of about 5,600, I can see where a ship with 6,000 passengers can be undesirable. Two mega ships? What a mess. I sure don't want to be in a port where I am not welcome.
