why does a deluxe resort share a bus with 5 other resorts ????

Someone at work was saying that they would never stay at the Epcot resorts again (YC/BC, BWI, BCV,BWV,S/D) because all 7 of them share a bus to MK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could that be right?? I have't stayed in that area in a long time but that seems crazy. Those are all Deluxe resorts and cost a pretty penny. Not to mention that people invest a lot to own at the BWV and BCV. How can this be if its true. I would have thought that people wouldn't stand for it. I could see maybe 2 resorts sharing a bus but 7 !!???

They all share the same bus. That was my biggest complaint about our stays at the YC...the transportation to MK/AK and the Waterparks. The buses were usually empty too.

BTW...It's not 7 stops, it was only four total when we were there. S/D, YC, BC and BWI

We stayed at the WL. The boat goes straight to MK but to everywhere else on the bus, WL gets picked up 1st then to GF and Poly.

When we left the Marketplace in the afternoon (before 4 the route is slightly different) the bus went to I swear 15 stops at Ft Wilderness. People were getting angry because we were all WL guests. We could see the hotel through the woods but the driver had to stop at every darn campsite. I think the 1 stop Deluxe should occur before the 20 stop campgrounds. That was just ridiculous!!

It can get pretty crowded at MK closing. Sometimes there is an extra bus for the S/D, which we take, as there is usually no line for it. If there is only one bus we get off at the Swan anyway, much quicker to take the short walk to BW rather than sit (or stand!) on the bus.

I have been riding the bus to and from the Swan to MK, AK, and Downtown Disney since the 18th and we have only been making stops at Swan, Dolphin and Boardwalk.

Morning operations have always been via "MOD" - Magic On Demand. MOD is a FLEXIBLE and DYNAMIC routing system. Routes are determined by demand. If a bus fills up, another one is dispatched. Buses do NOT always go to all five resorts, in fact, most only go to two, maybe three.

During afternoon and evening operations, Magic Kingdom splits the buses into two routes:

Boardwalk -> Swan -> Dolphin
Yacht -> Beach

Downtown Disney also has the same routing during peak evening hours (typically 5:30-11:30pm)


Sounds great... but now the current complaint is, "What do you mean you don't go to the Boardwalk??" And instead of waiting the 5 minutes for the proper bus, they get on anyway, and then complain about having to walk.

This is the reason why I will never stay at YC/BC/Boardwalk again! At least at the Swan & Dolphin you can grab a towncar to MK or AK. Even then, it has to be a pretty good room rate for me to deal with the Epcot Bus loop.

That bus loop is awful, and totally uncalled for given the prices of the rooms!

To their credit, I've seen them split up the busses, but I could never figure out a pattern to it. Just the threat of being caught on the 5 stop route was enough for me to look for another resort!

5 stops really isn't the end of the world. The boat takes longer with it's 3 stops.

And when you really think about it, if you're at Yacht or Beach, you only have to sit through 2 or 3 stops each way. Swan gets dropped off first, and Boardwalk has the shortest inbound ride. It all balances out, and when you really think about it, does a few extra minutes really make that much of a difference?

The reason I will not stay at Yc and BC is because of the bussing system is rotten. By the time in the am you get the buses to come to those two resorts the busses are full. I watched it play out last year for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Most esp on EE days. We decided not to go to one EE because of the poor busing system they have for those "DELUX" accomidations. Never again!!

We stayed at the Swan in June and used the Disney transportation system exclusively. We had no complaints with the bus system. Some days it did stop at Dolphin, YC, BC, and BW, othertimes it did not do all the stops. It was not a big deal. For us, it was much easier and more relaxing to allow a little additional time for extra stops than to use a rental car- walk to it at the hotel lot (yes, I know you can do valet, but we wouldn't have), drive wherever we were going, park, get the tram or walk to the gate. The bus drops you right at the front entrance. The boats also worked well, too. Very relaxing - just allow a little extra time.

We stayed at the Yacht Club in April and really never had a problem with the transportation. You can walk to Epcot; walk or boat to Disney Studios; and take the bus to AK or MK. The bus stopped at YC and BC, but that was it.

I LIKE the buses since it means that I am not the one driving! We had no problems at all this past July when staying at the Dolphin. I felt like the buses were a lot less crowded than in previous years and that they had added more buses on demand. A day I don't drive is a great day!

Each time we have stayed at the Dolphin, occasionaly we did stop at the other resorts, but it didn't really add any substancial time. It just depends on the time of day I guess like Tyler said. In the end, it's nothing to "prevent" us from staying at a resort.

I'm sorry - I'm really not pointing this at anyone, just making an observation - but DH and I have always gotten a kick out of everyone complaining so much about the busing system. Even when you stay at a moderate it still takes you 20 minutes tops to get wherever you are going. Pretty convienent if you ask me! We love to stay at the deluxe resorts but mainly because of the pools, atmosphere, and amenities. We think transportation is fabulous anywhere on Disney property. Yes, I know it's Disney and a vacation - but really - where else in the world can you find a fleet of buses ready to take you anywhere, anytime (well, at Disney, anyway). Of course, there are instances of poor bus service, but IMHO Disney does a great job of providing their guests with transportation!

I would think you'd spend more time waiting if they didnt share the bus. Plus its not any different that staying some place like OKW (which can be more expensive than any of the epcot resorts) which has its own bus, but the bus makes several stops within the resort.

We stayed at the BC on our last visit and I never had a problem with the buses. I found them faster even with the stops then taking the boat over to MGM. After a few days we tried walking to Epcot and taking the momorail from there instead (my son LOVED the momorail ride) the walk was relatively short it was a quick ride to the MK

The rate they charge you on Deluxe resorts, you would think that each resorts can afford a bus without being shared with others.

I think if I would do Deluxe, I think I would go with AKL. They are the only Deluxe that has its own bus.

I know that some might feel that the buses are great but think of this for all 5 resorts they included accomidations that cover 3863 room/rental units which is more than that of many of the other resorts. I just seemed to me that poor planning was done when the last stop had no room for those who wanted a ride on EE mornings.

I just returned from BC and to MK it was a direct YC/BC bus only. Swan/Dolphin/BW had their own MK bus and it fact their own bus stop at MK b/c one time we waited soooo long for a MK bus back to BC (over 40 mins!) that we actually hopped a BW bus and walked back.

I have to agree with the poor (extremely poor IMO) bus service from BC. This was our only complaint with our 10 day stay. I was shocked that a deluxe resort would allow it's guests to wait up to 40 minutes for a bus! The buses wer consistanly late in both directions every time we used them. Then, to top it all off, you had to make many stops before you got back to the resort. For the price you pay for a room at a deluxe, they really need to address the bussing from them (at least the BC from my personal experience).
