Why do you stop at Main St. bakery first thing in the morning?

Thats easy French Toast Loaf and Cinnamon Rolls. MMMMMMMMMM! So good. Dh and I end up going to the Magic Kingdom more than once when we visit the world so we dont rush. We take our time and eventually ride everything and then reride the rides we love.

We're into just being in the parks with a few others, our being there has nothing to do with attractions and ride lines. We like to casually stroll up Main Street, taking in the sights, yes, even after 41 trips the MK holds us spell bound, if the bakery has a short line, we enjoy a cinnamon roll and continue our trek into the world, usually Adventureland first.

It's not about the ride lines getting in early, we just want to be in the park, we're not wasting time we're enjoying the ambiance and nostalgia, atmosphere and surrounding of the MK. Racing to attractions or fast pass machines has never been one of our quests. What we miss, we catch later but we are not commando's, have no plan and have done WDW the same way in all our trips. The first look up Main Street is enough and seeing the castle is just icing on the cake, we could walk the kingdom all day and not ride a thing and be entirely happy.

Well said!:thumbsup2

We've learned the joy of stopping there on our way *out* of the MK.

Bring a few goodies back to the room to enjoy first thing the next morning.
(They go stale quickly, so it helps to pack some large Ziplock bags in your suitcase to put them in...)

What a glorious way to start the next day. :goodvibes

Just don't buy your goodies at night on your way out of the park...we did that once (during the fireworks actually) and it was SO stale we couldn't eat it. :sad2:

But a FRESH cinnomon roll...

I don't get to a park before 11 nor do I eat breakfast. So I don't have any idea how good the breakfast is anyway.

I don't arrive to the park early to avoid lines... I go when there aren't long line anyways... I get to the park early to watch the rope drop ceremony. Though the only thing we have ever gotten from Main St Bakery was a bagel, I hear really good things about the items they serve there... so we will stop by there to try some of the different things they have.

We're usually in the MK early to do a breakfast or else we're there after rope drop. We're not into racing for attractions first thing in the morning anyway. But i have to say this trip the Bakery was all about the chocolate bundt cake.We had it a couple of times. It was good- my 10 yo had the biggest chocolate chip cookie sandwich too.

Ok, now I'm confused... I've come across numerous threads where people were saying they buy pastries, etc at MSB to take back and eat the next morning for breakfast.

But now a couple of you have said they're totally stale by morning...

First off, how can a pastry get that stale that quickly?

And does it get stale even if you store it in a ziploc?

I was hoping to pick up some breakfast-y type foods on the days we're there, for the next mornings... but now afraid to try that.

Also, do they sell most of what they offer all day long? Or is it limited to breakfast hours?

Thanks! :)

I did not keep our "to go" roll in a Ziplock, but I can tell you it was actually stale when we bought it that evening (during the fireworks).

We got back to the AKL and tried it (less than an hour after buying it) and it was very stale. :sad2: The one I posted a picture of above was purchased first thing in the morning (different trip) and tasted good, but wasn't "too die for" (DD9 said mine are much better, and I make the frozen kind!). I had an egg & ham croissant and it was delish!

Not to hijack this thread; but as much as we love MSB - a great place to get food to go for breakfast the next morning is Epcot.

Both the Kringle Bakery in Norway and the French pastry place have great treats to go. Even late at night they are fresh. And they pack them in plastic boxes.

That said, we always stop at MSB for coffee and breakfast on our way into Magic Kingdom.:thumbsup2

First off, how can a pastry get that stale that quickly?

And does it get stale even if you store it in a ziploc?

1. Because they are made FRESH, without the benefit of "preservatives" that are found in packaged pastries that you get elsewhere that stay "fresh" for days on end. And, since it's a bakery, the goods sit in open air. AND, in Florida, that air is heavy with moisture (humidity), which is what staleness is all about.

2. If you bring large gallon sized ziploc bags and store the pastries in there, and you buy them FRESH, and you get ALL the air out (or as much as possible), you will have squishy but FRESH tasting pastries the next morning.

One of our favorite MK days is always the one where we stop at MSB and grab some of the French toast loaves and a couple breakfast sandwiches. We then walk to a deserted (and closed) Pecos Bill and eat our breakfast on the outdoor tables. We people watch the folks stampeding to Splash and just enjoy the morning. It is literally a perfect morning for us.

Thanks for this thread! I've always assumed the people who rush to get to the MK for opening, especially EMH, and then stopped at the bakery first off HAD to be newbies who just didn't know any better. :rotfl: I guess not.
I'm not much of a bakery person in the first place though so there is little appeal for me there at any time of day much less first thing in the morning when I'd be "wasting" my ride time.

I never plan on going into MSB, but as soon as I walk by that place the smell gets me everytime. My god, I am getting hungry just thinking about those huge cinnamon rolls......YUMMY!!!!!!:goodvibes

Two words:

Cinnamon Rolls :worship:

We get there early due to the fact that the line-up gets VERY long VERY fast and frankly, there is no FastPass available for the bakery!!! (Now there's something for Disney to think about ;) )

I am so with you on this! The cinnamon rolls are SO good! This will be our first stop (again!) once we get to the Magic Kingdom next year.:rotfl:
