Why do you stay off site?

I've stayed onsite at Port Orleans and offsite at Windsor Hills - I loved Windsor Hills. The commute was so easy that it was really a non-issue. We had so much more space. We have a two year old who needs a nap and we weren't held prisoner in a hotel room while he napped beside us. Plus, I think the restaurants offsite are a better bargain for the money and better food. We enjoyed places like Columbia's in Celebration and the Cheesecake Factory at Millenia Mall. I have not been impressed with the restaurants I've tried on Disney property since I think you overpay for mediocre food and poor service (due to overcrowdedness).

We split stays because we have a time share and can stay free off site which allows us to stay longer.

I like both. Onsite I feel more like I 'belong' and like the little priveliges like EMH... but... we also really prefer a spacious condo over a hotel room (2 adults 2 kids). OK, we stayed at OKW a couple of times, and it's great, but it was only for 3-4 nights, and I couldn't justify the extra expense this trip.

The GC at DLR was good for 4 nights with a bunk bed room and you could walk everywhere... but this time we're offsite as we can get loads of space for way less than onsite.

Also, being from the UK the surrounding 'offsite' Orlando area is fun and different for us, and it would in some ways be a shame not to see more than just WDW.

Ditto what everyone else said.

We could afford to stay on-site but prefer to stay and relax off-site.

My biggest reason for staying offsite..........

:) Returning home from a week's vacation with NO dirty laundry: PRICELESS!!!:)

When the kids were small we did timeshare tours to get cheap places, so I could have a washer and dryer handy. You never know with toddlers. The last time we stayed at the contporay tower. It was just so convient. But this time the decision was made for us since we will be camping for the week before I just couldnt stand the thought of all that laundry. If it rains and the tent leaks, I'd have to throw away everyones sleeping bags and everything. So we are staying at Windsor Hills so I can do laundry. I hate laundry rooms. :laundy:
