i thought this might be a fun topic. my guess is that it will be interesting to see how different people who love the same place manage to articulate why they love it so much!

i love disneyland for a lot of reasons...but i think the one that means the most to me is that it is where i've seen my children at their very happiest. we've been to disneyland so many times over the past 12 years (100+), that we've made a significant amount of family memories there. i can easily recall visions of my children at different times of their babyhoods and childhoods while at disneyland. their faces while they watch the parade, their smiles while they ride the dumbo ride, the sound of their voices while they scream on california screamin', etc. it's been our happiest place to be as a family all these years, and i love knowing that even when my children are grown, i'll be able to visit disneyland and still see them clearly as children in my mind while i am there. we've moved around a lot over the years, so disneyland has been our one place that we always return to, that is always the same.

M-A-G-I-C.

Because someone believed in his dreams enough to fulfill the dream of literally millions of people. :goodvibes

The warmth, Disneyland Mainstreet USA, the music, the rides, the scents of the warm food in the air = the MAGIC.

My son asked me today what do I think of when I hear the word Disneyland... he told me he thinks of BTMR area, and I told him I tend to think of Main Street, Splash Mountain, and yep - BTMR - I don't know how one word, DISNEYLAND, can conjure up a million and ten visions, all FANTASMIC, too.

Good question! Also kind of hard to answer!

I would say that for me, Disneyland represents an ideal; a place where magic is all around you, good conquers evil, things are simple and people are happy. It appeals to the part of me that wants all those things to be true.

We love both DLR and WDW as you can see in my signature. Two things that really make DL so magical are:
- it is the original
- Walt himself "built" and enjoyed the park

It is a place where I can be a kid again. I don't have the day-to-day worries like I do in the "real world". It caters to my imagination. I don't know how to quite put into words why I love it. I guess I love it because anything is possible.

How can you NOT love DL? I could carry on and on about all of the things I love about DL and then I would tell you that my favorite thing is its location: close to me!!! I have APs for myself and my DS3 and I love being able to go over there on a whim!

I'll be there today for the afternoon and evening and will report back what it was I loved the most today!! :cloud9:

Because they treat my daughter like this.....

I can't think of any other place that would take the time to make her feel like a princess.

Wow!! That photo of the Disney Princess with your Princess is amazing!!

I LOVE all of the thought you guys are putting into the answers. An excellent question to ask, OP.

I can't wait to see more answers...:goodvibes

I am such a sap, I am already in tears and there are only six posts on this thread.
Disneyland makes me happy. I wish I could say why it does, but it just does. There really is magic there.

I love DL because it is an inspirational tribute to Walt, to America and to the child in all of us.

Plus, it is the only placed you can wear crazy hats without serious questions about your sanity.

I love Disneyland because when you enter through the gates I feel like I have been transported to a place where the sun is always shinning, your dreams come true, and you leave the rest of the world behind you.

I love it because it is the one place in the world where all the bad fades away. No matter how many times I go it is always different somehow. I feel like a kid again and love seeing the fun through my kids eyes. It is a magical place and no matter HOW many times I go I never get enough.

Hi Kelly! See you Saturday, we're playing your team in soccer!

Wow, awesome question!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I would have to say that I love DL because as a child, I watched every Disney movie over and over and over again. Growing up, I was the only 16 year old I knew who had a Disney themed room and friends of mine and other people thought I was crazy when they saw how much I loved Disney. I first went to DL when I was 17 and as soon as I walked through the gates, I saw that there were thousands and thousands of people who were just like me, who felt the magic I feel everytime I throw in a Disney movie! Its definitely a place of unity and above all MAGIC! It's a place to be inspired and let your dreams come to life. :yay: :yay: :yay:

I love Disneyland because the best times of my childhood and my favourite memories are from going as a child.

My parents divorced when I was 6 and my father took us to Disneyland for the first time when I was 11, my dad lived about 12 hours away from us and the company he worked for knew that we missed seeing him and he us and paid for our entire Disney vacation. That for me is when the magic began.

Nothing goes wrong when you're at Disney it's like being in another world, once you walk through the gates. My eyes tear up just walking through security because I know that once I get through the gates everything else that could possibly be going wrong in my world is no longer.

It is a place that I can return to and become a child again, excited and full of wonder at the magic around me. I don't have to worry about the day to day things I can just be and enjoy.

It is my happy place and it is the happiest place on earth, it is my second home.

*I'm tearing up just writing this and remembering**

You Love Disney because there are more smiles than tears (unhappy ones of course)

It brings back all the good feelings of when you were a kid...and everywhere you look theres a little touch of Walt himself.

And its the only place you can meet a Princesses and a Villain within moments of each other.

Disneyland is a place to let the rest of the world melt away in cloud of Fairy Dust...

And personally I love it cause it makes the little one so excited just talking about going...the light in his eyes just makes me smile and its even better when we walk into the park and jump on the first ride or see our first Character...or even the first time you stop for a few moments in front the fire house looking up at the light thats kept on for Walt himself.

these are fantastic answers! and just as i suspected, i am not the only one who found it challenging to articulate why disneyland is so special.

keep 'em coming! popcorn::

SAMKJ - your answer and photo made me teary-eyed! so sweet. your little girl is beautiful!

Its the one place where you can be a kid again and spend time with your family. we may not do much in the year but once a year going to DL or wdw is good and we all know we have that to look forward to.

I love how my DS looks when we are talking about it just like capt bane said his eyes light up. I love being able to spend time with him and DH *hugs*

Disneyland makes you happy. You forget your worries and your troubles. It makes you smile. The warmth that comes over you ask you walk down main street. The sounds, the smells. I love it there. I have gone at least once a year since I was four and so my summer memories are of my family in DL. I will never stop going and now I am bringing my children. It is just pure magic. I dont think there are truly words lol seeing commercials for it gives me goosebumps :)
