Why Do You Love Disney???

Disney is the one place where everything is an experience! From walking through the gates, to standing in line, to the actual ride. Even the food, resorts, everything! I'm 42 and can't wait for June. I'm lucky that my parents are coming with so that, once again, they can experience this with their grandchildren. And this time we have a new little princess, my 3 year old neice. She can't wait to meet the princesses and my daughter, 15, wants to be the one to share it with her. That's what Disney is all about, family being together and living the magic. It makes my heart flutter just thinking about it! Thanks Walt!!:cloud9:

I love WDW because its a fantasy, I never think of work or bills till Im on the plane home:lmao:

:) Wow, you guys really do get it!! After loosing our house and MIL's house in Katrina we wondered if we would make the trip in 2005. 5 weeks after Katrina we lost my FIL to cancer, again we wondered if we would make the trip that December. Well we did--it was a combination of needing to get away from the Coast for a while and needing "Happy Magic". I had never been as a child and was 32 on my first trip there with DH in 2002. Been every year since. It is our annual trip together and anyone is welcome. Usually my MIL and BIL go, this year it is my parents. I trully beleive it helped us heal and when they turned on the Osborne Lights that year, with DH hugging me, I knew we were OK. I get it, I really get it!!

People actually heal or re-coup or relax in Disney....Wishing everyone out there Disney Magic:wizard:

While I've been reading here awhile, I haven't quite found the motivation to register until now. Why do we love Disney? I always feel just a little bit sad for those that don't quite seem to connect with the magic and wonder that Disney offers. I'm sure they find their magic elsewhere, but Disney magic is... well, special! :p I have to say I'm thrilled to have found a harbor online that holds so many that do feel that magic. :)

We too deal with the "What you're going THERE again?" questions or the "It's not even real!" eyerolls. They've not a clue what it is they're judging as the majority that judge our family vacation decisions, have never been! The craftsmanship, the attention to detail, the mind boggling efficiency of the operations involved, the beauty. We have one family member in particular that never passes an opportunity to take a stab at our "fake Disney trips" . Funny. I'm pretty certain the hotel I stay in, the food we eat and the parks we visit are not a figment of my imagination. Seems real enough to me. :teeth:

I love Mickey and Minnie because they are always smiling and are always so cheerful. After a rubbish day at work, I like to relax in my bedroom surrounded by all those smiling faces. I have special cuddly toys that I can tell my problems to.

I have always loved them from a very early age but I have never been a collector of memorabilia. I took up collecting about 2 years ago and since then my collection of Mickey, Minnie and Disneyland Park stuff has grown to over 2,000 with 340 of that being just cuddly toys and plushes alone!

Also I collect postcards (380+) and it is interesting to read the back of them as you get an insight into peoples lives. Most of them describe the fun they have had at the parks and some are just "get well soon" or "well done on your new job"

Even the sight of Mickey and Minnie smiling cheers me up. That's why I have a Mickey mug and cuddly toy at work on my desk.

I have never been to a Disneyland park, but hopefully when we plan our trip next year, I can get some good info from here

I have visited WDW since I was 7 years old. I have now been there 14 times and like many of you I'm sure, LOVE it more and more each time. But each time our family makes plans to visit Disney people ALWAYS ask us WHY?? Why are you going back, Arent you tired of it, You should go somewhere else!!! They want to know whats so special about WDW. I have a hard time putting it into words. All I can think of is how "magical" it really is. I love seeing commericals for WDW, looking back at videos and pics from our trips, planning and of course GOING!! So I'm wondering what is it that makes you all love WDW so much??

I agree with you 100 percent, it is very hard to put into words. Even though I've been to WDW 17 times, I spend most of my time reading books about WDW, watching the WDW DVD, and listening to the soundtrack from the park. I love WDW because my dreams really do come true there and you forget about everything else that is going on in the world. I love being treated like a real princess princess: and all the cast members truly want you to have a magical vacation. I also love WDW because of the unexpected surprises, like walking in to the Magic Kingdom and seeing the Trolley show or the Dapper Dans performing or when you walk to adventureland to ride Pirates of the Caribbean and you see Captain Jack Sparrow walking toward you on his way to his pirate tutorial. It really is an incredible, magical place and we owe it all to one man, Walt Disney.

To me, Disney is the only place that every girl no matter what age is a princess, and every boy is prince charming.
You will walk down a street and remember being there with a parent when you were small, or being there with your kids for the first time.
One day the girls will ride Its a Small World and find me there, just like I find my Dad there each time I ride.

Disney is to each person something that for some reason we can't actually put into words, but you will know it when you feel it. I know I have never been able to say what it is to me without crying.

OK, Sally, knock it off, now I am crying.

It's ALL true, everything that's been said so far. I have an added story of having an autistic child. He is doing very well now, but in the beginning he wasn't. We have brought him and his twin brother several times in their 4 year life, and EVERY time we have gone, he has blossomed in some way. He said some of his first words at Disney, when before he was completely non-verbal. Because many autistic children take things literally, when my son meets with one of the characters, he truly BELIEVES, "Yes, Mommy this IS Mickey Mouse! And he's hugging me!" The look of joy, stemming from his complete belief in all that is magical at Disney is a most wonderful feeling. There were times in our autism days when he could never smile or make contact. At Disney he is always smiling.

Disney as a company always does so much for autistic kids. They train their CM's on autism, they provide special meals for children on special diets, they provide Guest Assistance Cards for little guests who may need a little assistance. For these reasons, and all of the others, I happily give my money to a company who cares so much for all of its guests.

I think the magic is as big for the parents as it is for the children. Maybe more.

What's not to love. Like everyone else, I feel like a kid again. And, to watch my daughter's eye's light up. Probably the only place on earth to go and always see pretty much everybody smiling and having a great time. What an awesome atmosphere to be around.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :dance3: I'll be there in April and we can't wait. Disney is unlike any other vacation I've been on.

I have loved Walt DIsney ever since I was a little girl. I grew up watching the Mickey Mouse Club. It breaks my heart that Walt didn't live to see the opening. He is my hero. He brought so much happiness to so many people. I have been to WDW many times I have taken all 6 of my grandchildren. Just seeing their little faces the first time they saw Mickey Mouse is something I will always cherish! People ask me all the time why I go so often, don't I get tired of it. i just tell them it is the most wondeful, magical place on earth. and I love it sooooo. much!

I love Disney because it is the one place where my kids behave themselves...:rotfl2: Our family rule is that there is "NO FIGHTING, NO CRYING (unless happy tears) and NO WHINING" while at Disney World. From the morning we arrive until the day we leave we have smiles that nobody could wipe off if they wanted to. I love that we are treated like a person while we are there because this day and age people can get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and sometimes forget how to to be respectful to one another. I love that I can park my car for a week and never get back in it and have someone cart me around where ever I want to go. I love that I can eat anything 20 mickey bars if I want and not have to worry about it until I get home...:rotfl: Most of all I love the sparkle in my daughters eyes everytime they see Mickey Mouse..it makes my heart melt every time!!! :lovestruc

Disneyland is one of the few places I can truly enjoy myself. They do such a good job of blocking out the rest of the world and keeping everything nice, clean, and happy. I'm not a very big ride person and yet I go to Disneyland once a month just for the atmosphere and that sense of, dare I say, magic. To put it simply, I love being there.

Let me first say how well put everyone's responses have been...they were VERY interesting to read! :cloud9: Really lifted my spirits after this week and all of the depressing news about the economy. :confused3

That being said...the best way I can describe why I love Disney so much is...like the commercial where the mom transforms from a grown up to a child with her daughter, I can be a kid. I have no worries, I don't think about work, OR the economy, OR any bad stuff. If I wanted a "real"istic vacay, then what is the point of taking a vacay? If I want to be faced with lifes pressures then I'll stay home, DUH! :hippie:

Ok, I digress, sorry! :) Disney is just simply a magical place where everyone gets wrapped up in happiness. If they don't, then I feel sorry for them.

Nuff said!:cutie:

The minute I get on the Magical Express, the feeling starts..I get teary, full of joy and excitement..sometimes I am not even sure i still have skin on:) Then we hit the resort and Bam!!!!! The magic, especially this time as the kids had letters waiting for them and this was even better as I got to see Disney thru their eyes....my little nephew had a smile on his face the entire time...we had no worries, no cares, only me telling them when to get up and when to go to bed...they decided most everything else...The warmth and the love that the CM emit is incredible..Everyone can act silly and not be worried if they are making a scene...you can even have ice cream for breakfast if you want....I can't wait to go back,,,

Why do I love Disney?Hmmm....Let me count the ways.I dont think I have enough room on here to post why I love Disney:goodvibes I really cant put it into words, its more of a feeling really. But what's not to love about Disney:lovestruc

Why oh why oh why....
How do I love thee?.....let me count the ways!
WDW fills us with magic, a chance to be kids and enjoy life. We have so many great memories, and plan on going back each and every year as long as we are physically able to keep building more. We work hard, very hard, for 51 weeks a year, this is our time, family only time! No one is allowed to come with us, no extended family (made that mistake only once!) no friends, nobody, nada!!! We do what we want when we want.....besides how often do you actually get to sit down and have breakfast with POOH????? :wizard:

I love the fact that Disney is honest about its quest to make money. Therefore, they have to give good value for their prices. I don't attend hippie-fests because they are typically more capitalistic than the corporations they complain about. They are the ones who typically charge admission for something whose sole purpose is to sell things.

I agree with everyone who has posted. Beautifully stated. It truly feels like
coming "home". :goodvibes

After growing up only 2.5 hours from Orlando, and starting to visit in 1973, I am happy to say I have lost count of the number of my visits. I stopped counting at 38 or so ... it's probably somewhere around 43 right now. Going this year for Christmas again. :santa:

For me, I believe, one of the biggest loves of Disney is simply the quality of everything. I even get teary when I hit just the monorail, not to mention once I get through the entrance and hear that Main Street music. I'm instantly in heaven. :) I just can't get enough of it.

I love all things Disney! I have always loved Disney more than my family. I've had to listen to the "Why again?" questions for years. It wasn't until just last year that my DD (19) REALLY caught the bug & is now just as crazy for the Mouse Magic as I am!:thumbsup2 Now I have someone to plan with & obsess with over plans...it's great!

As a child, Disney represented a magical place where dreams become reality and wishes are granted for everyone. We didn't have much money & we all worked really hard on the farm, so those few trips we took were extra special. For a few days, I didn't have to worry about waking at 4 a.m. to feed the chickens, collect the eggs, clean the pens, etc. My strict parents were more lenient, my mom smiled more & we were able to enjoy special treats like ice cream & soda pop! I absolutely loved the freedom we had while there. I always cried when leaving, still get pretty misty.

Once I had a child of my own, I was able to relive the experiences with her & bask in the wonder of a child at Disney. :lovestruc We have been making yearly trips - just the 2 of us - for the last 2 years. It's been extra special for us to just enjoy each other & enjoy the magic of Disney! For as long as I'm around, we plan to continue the tradition.

One of the ways that Disney has made me love it even more is that since 2001, I've had lupus & now am battling cancer, but Disney CMs ALWAYS go out of their way to make it special. The parks, rides, attractions are all geared so I don't miss out on anything. Disney is the only place that is so accessible to people with special needs. For that alone, it's worth the price!:goodvibes
