Why Do You Love Disney World?

One of my main reasons I like going to Disney World is the reason why Walt created Disney Land - as a place where my family can go and we can ALL have fun! We know we can take our kids here for many more years and there are always things we can do together.

And altho many will argue (but maybe not on this board :) ) we think that WDW is a good value for the $$$. Our family stays on-site and we love the convenience of Disney transportation and all the activities that are available.

Plus, you can't compare the "magic" while you are at Disney. You either get it or you don't. Our family does and we will continue to go for.....forever I guess! No matter how many times we go, I still get choked up when we walk into the MK and I see the castle for the first time. :)

P.S. My sister, at the age of 53, went to WDW for the first time last June with our cousin of the same age and her two DD's (one 19, one 22). My sister said that when she and our cousin walked down Main Street for the first time and the saw the castle they both stood there with their arms around each other crying like babies. WDW has that effect on some people. :)

1. Everything is right there to do
2. They do what they have to do to make you happy (at least they always have for me!)
3. The accomodations are top-notch
4. I lose all sense of time when I am there
5. I relax totally when I am there
6. I don't get the "rolleyes" attitude from the employees there like I do from employees up here
7. None of the people I would normally encounter at work are there
8. Its familiarity is comforting
9. There is always something different to do each time I am there

Because my child is a kid there!
My 7 year old daughter has severe brain damaged caused by the flu @ 15months old. She in non-verbal, non-mobile and 100% dependent for every need. When we are out in public at home, people see her chair and stare. Kids point and gawk or she is basically ignored by all the kids in the neighbourhood.
Yet when we go to Disney, it's remarkable how many people are accepting of her. The CM's are great and people/ other kids just sem to accept her as a kid.
Disney is the only place we can actually feel "normal"... so it is an extremely special place for me. I get to be a normal parnt even if just a week or two a year!

My DS9 with severe learning differences feels no stress, no pressure and just has a great time whenever we are there. He feels like a normal child. He acts like he is really alive (free). I know I'm not explaining this well. When we are at WDW all is well with my family!

It IS somewhat hard to explain to someone who doesn't feel the "magic" why it's special to visit WDW. Here's my attempt, anyway, to convince a non-believer:

Memoroies: I think part of it, for me, is that we went to Disney World a few times as kids. It's kind of neat to return as an adult.

Service: In the our society, "service" is becoming non-existent. Yes, you pay a lot when you go to Disney World, but in return they get excellent service in a clean and (relatively) safe environment. I can't stress the importance of this aspect enough.

Entertainment: The entertainment is plenty for adults! From the more "adult rides," to the live shows, to the excellent restaurants. As was Walt's design, I believe it's a great place for kids AND their parents -- whether visiting together or not.

Kids: For me, I expect an added level of "magic" to take place the first time we take our kids. That'll probably top everything up to this point (if that's possible).

Bottomline: It's a fun, relaxing place to forget about the outside world for a while in order to "recharge your batteries." That's something invaluable...these days especially.

It's just Magical! Also, my Grandparents took my brother & me to Daytona every year for a week and we took day trips a few times to MK (at the time that's all there was). My G'parents are now in there 80's and my G'mother has Alzheimers. It just takes me back to my childhood and happier times. My DH does not exactly share in my enhusiasm, but tolerates it, and I believe it's actually growing on him too, because when we went back in Oct., he agreed to take the DVC tour - 1 step closer. Between me, DS & DD - he's out-numbered.:D

Because WDW is the one place where my DH and I can be kids again. I can almost feel the weight of the world slipping from my shoulders as we enter WDW.

I do not get the same feeling on other vacations, because WDW is the only place where I KNOW I will have a good time and be immersed in the magic from the moment I arrive.

I felt the same way...that WDW was just another stupid amusement park and I'd been to plenty of those before. Then, when I was 16 years old, the summer before I graduated HS, my parents took us all to WDW as a 'pregraduation gift' for me. That's when I fell in love. It's so magical...like a whole other world, another time frame where nothing really matters other than experiencing that magic. If you do everything, or nothing, it's ok because you're there. You can see every show, ride and attraction they have out there, or you can do whatever suits your abilities and interests. That's what makes it so fun. With other theme parks, you're usually only there for one day (or maybe two) and you feel pressured to do everything in sight. With WDW, you're usually there for three or more days, so there's not a lot of pressure to do it all in one day. You can do half a morning at Epcot and the other half at MGM or an entire day at AK or MK.

Plus..the thing I like most about it is that I get to be a little kid again. I don't feel stupid acting a little silly, or riding 'little kid rides' like Peter Pan's Flight or Small World. I enjoy the nostalgia those rides and others like them bring back. It's ok to giggle and get a little goofy when meeting your favorite character, esp if it's for the first time. It's ok to act a little child-like for a little while, something adults don't get to do very often.

There's a magic about WDW that you just don't find anywhere else. Sometimes you just can't explain it to those who don't get it.

Well said Dan!

Like everyone else said "IT"S MAGIC"! I can be a kid. The rides, the sights, the smells. What's not to Love? You either get it or you don't?

I honestly get butterflys in my belly the second I am walking through the main gate and on to Main street. My eyes well up and I swear if you are standing close enough to me you will probable hear the tinkling noise that you hear when Tink waves her wand and sprinkles PD, cuz she dumps buckets of PD on my head! The over whelming feeling of Magic is incredible

And to be honest, I think the older you get, and the more life issues you deal with, my goodness there is no better place to go to let things go and not nessisarily be a kid, but just be as carefree as a kid.

Buckets of PD falling on this chick! Watch out:umbrella: :umbrella: :umbrella:

Thanks to those of you with special kids that have posted here. I hadn't thought of it that way, but that's wonderful. My DD was pretty much non-verbal, and very shy, the first time we went to WDW just after her 8th birthday. She has LD's too, but I think that trip was a turning point for her. We went in early May, and she got a lot of CM and character interaction, including going up on stage at Hoop de Doo. I remember on the way home she told me, "Mom, if you never try anything new, you'll miss out on a lot"! Believe me, it was a breakthrough for her!

MK, though, hmm. Not our favorite place, it seems to always be packed with people and strollers. My DH especially dislikes it there. But if you've been lucky enough to be there at a relatively uncrowded time, it's the visuals that get you. Main street, the castle (esp. at night), the parades, the fireworks, it all sticks in your memory. We probably like looking at MK (from Ca Grill) better than actually being in it. But we absolutely love Epcot. I even have a great visual memory of the path to Epcot from BCV, I love that walk.

I guess it isn't for everybody. We tend to forget that because it's for everyone that visits these boards, for sure! Diana

Being at the MK brings out the child in me. The little girl who dreamed of going to Disneyland and seeing all of her favorite characters. Seeing the sparkle in my own DD's eye's and seeing the joy on their faces is priceless. I really feel very carefree and a millon miles away from my grown up day to day life. The atmosphere at WDW is like no other.

Everyone here has said everything I feel. You just feel like a completely different person. Your stresses and worries just slip away. It makes me smile, and it makes me cry. It brings out so many wonderful emotions that we tend not to show in every day life. Plus the fact that I don't have to cook, clean or go to work has a lot to do with it too;) That makes me feel like a princess. We have always gone to get away from the cold Northeast winters too. So the warm sunshine makes me feel like a new person too.

Hakuna Mattata....that's all I can say.

I feel so relaxed and happy when I'm at Disney World. I can truly just enjoy myself. I love all the fun things there are to do, I love the incredible theming, and I love the atmosphere and service. It really is a magical place to me!

I can identify with you though, a co-worker of mine loves to bash the Magic Kingdom. She and her husband thought it was cheesy and in bad shape. She wasn't impressed with the audio-animatronics. Now I'm sure she hasn't seen any better ones, but oh well.

I agree with everyone who has posted. Its just the Disney Magic. When I walk into a park it's like all my problems are gone, or atleast put on hold. I don't have to worry about a thing, Disney does it all. It's a remarkable feeling of being a kid again and having no worries....hakuna mattata!! I feel sorry for the people that just can't relate to how we all feel when we enter WDW.

If you have to ask...you wouldn't understand...LOL

It's where Mickey lives....where else would I go in the Mickeymobile for vacation...LOL...

it is truely the Most Magical Place on Earth....

It's a world all its own. When I'm there, I feel safe, relaxed, content. It's not confining or limited - there's so much to do, yet it's so spread out that there's not that feeling of having to run to do it all at once. Everywhere you go, you know you're in Mickey's land just by the look and feel of it.

Yes, there are a lot of other places to see in the world. But, WDW is the only place where my dh, dd and I can ALL have a terrific time. The world could come to a crashing halt and if I'm in WDW, I would never know. I can be a kid there and nobody looks at me twice. My type A dh is happy there. So happy there that we now own DVC. It's just so darned 'magical' and happy. The only time I ever get grumpy in WDW? MK on a Sat. afternoon. So, we don't do that anymore. No time for the grumpies in the happiest place in the world!!
