Why do you love Animal Kingdom?

Not to get off topic but there was one thread called something like "Things I hate at WDW" and it was chock full of people yelling at each other about strollers knocking into people.
Ah yes, the stroller battle! Almost, but not quite as rivetting as the rolling backpack battle, IMO :D !
Thanks again for a positive thread!!! Love that Animal Kingdom!

It's no secret AK is my favorite park. I like just hanging out at the various habitats and watching the animals - could do that all day long. We've been known to stand and watch the tigers for two or three HOURS (just did that a few weeks ago, in fact).

Our favorite discovery there is the Flights of Wonder show. Our first several visits to AK, we just kept missing it, so we finally made a point to see it. Now it's something we try to do every visit!

For me it is the whole atmosphere. The foliage, flowers, jungle, the colorfull architecture in Discovery Island, The worn village in Africa, the small outpost in Asia, the ruins of Maharaja Jungle Treck, The comical conglomeration that is restaurantosaurous and the beautiful terraces of Flame Tree BBQ. You can imagine how I feel about The new, insulting addition to Dinoland. Then there are the animal trails and exibits that are so well done. I can spend so much time wandering at this park. The rides are fine though not outstanding. Kali is a beautiful water ride but an extremely wimpy rapids ride. Dinosaur is extremely frightening but a bit underwhelming for some reason. The shows are fine as well though I look forward to them changing at some point. For those who love "rides" and go to WDW to do the rides, this may be a dissapointing park and I agree that they need a few more. I would love to stay at the AK untill well after dark and think adding more rides would assist in this.

We did the Sunrise Safari (for AKL concierge guests) last year for our 10th anniversary. As part of the tour, they gave us a sheet with several African words and phrases to use (and that CMs use) around AK. Since this is a thread for AK lovers, I thought I'd share it here:

I love the Animal Kingdom because there are so many cute animals and the Dinosaur ride. :D

Well, I'm really glad to read all these positive posts about AK! We are going to WDW for the very first in May/June and I chose AKL as our resort because my DS LOVES dinosaurs and animals of all kind. I just know that AK is going to be one of our favorite parks!

Festival of the Lion King and the colorful architecture of Discovery Island - I just love the way AK looks and feels. It grows on me every time we visit.

I love AK due to the fact it has my favorite Parade...I love the jungle jammin parade....great interaction with the parade performers....i am not a big parade fan but I love this parade....its a no miss for me....as is Primevil whirl, Dinosaur and Lion King and ITTBAB...

I love AK, DH loves AK. Its just so much more relaxing then the other parks. Lion King and ITTBAB are two of the most amazing shows/attractions that no matter how many times you see - still give you chills, tears or chuckles. We love to eat at Tusker house and I too wish it stayed open longer as no matter how much of a day we spend there - there is something we always miss.

I too have spent almost 2 hours watching the tigers!

I know some don't like it and even some HATE it but we have always had a great time and is one of the few parks we will double back to hit again. The themeing is incredible, the animals are fantasitc, "FOTLK" is great, the rides are fun and it is just a great place to relax some and enjoy the green!!!!

GOOD THREAD!

I LIKE THE AK BECAUSE OF:

Kilamanjaro Safaris
The Festival of the Lion King
Jungle Trek
Pangani Trail
The Tree of Life
It's Tough to be a Bug

and finally....

just the feel of the park! No matter what section of the park DH and I are in, I feel like we are truly in that country that it focuses on. :teeth:

My wife and I love AK. It is not a Park to rush through, it is a place to notice the small things tucked away in a corner. It is a hard Park sometimes to get around in when it is busy, it is much more enjoyable toward the end of the day when the crowds have thinned out. It amazes me how many people just rush by an animal exhibit without even glancing at it while we are standing there seeing something we have never seen before. I guess that is why some people love the thrill rides and others like something different.

I like it because that is where The Festival of The Lion King and the Tree of Life are. :flower1:

We love:

The huge rice crispie treats at Tusker house.

Sitting in the large flight cage on the Jungle trek enjoying the beauty of the birds.

The Festival of the Lion King (except when we sit in the wart hog section, How the heck do you make a wart hog sound?).

Watching the people freak out in the Bat cage.

The walking vine on stilts.

A frozen maragarita at the Dawa Bar.

Our first visit was in 1998, right after grand opening ... We (DW & I) love this place ... live animals, great attractions and wonderful shows.

Also, the best (IOHO) bloody marys' on property are at the "DAWA BAR"!
Bryon & Sharon are the best CM & bartenders this side of ASIA.

And, it has its' own CD! ... now that is power!

Dude

My family loves AK and seem to stretch evey minute there. So much to learn and after quite a few visits, we always talk about something new we liked. The only disappointing aspect has been at Its tough to be a Bug, my kids say the stink bug's, ahhh...ahhh....well the stink bug reminds them of my friend Bill!......poor thing......

I went to AK for the first time this summer and I think it's my favorite park now. I just love the attention to detail in the buildings, etc.
