Why do you live where you do?

Jobs, family, location, weather.......or other situations?

DH and I wanted to move to Florida when we retired but extended family members still live around us and some very close friends so we will probably always live where we are until we can't take care of ourselves. DH and I grew up in this town. I left to go to school but came back at 28.

My sons all live where they do because of the jobs they have. Luckily they aren't super far away so we can see them a few times a year.

We originally moved to Florida for a possible acting opportunity for DD. While that was short lived, we like Florida. While it's hot and humid during the summer months, the winters are glorious. Being less than a mile from Walt Disney World is a definite perk. I retired when we moved here, so a job has never been a contributing factor. We have a very small family, so that hasn't been an issue.

We moved to Florida in March.
we love the community, people & prices here! Being close to Disney World is a great feeling, we can pop in for the day anytime we feel like it.
i wish I was closer to our grandchildren, they are in Austin & I still see them only a couple times a year. They wanted us to move to Austin but we moved to Florida.
DH says it’s the best move in his lifetime, I’m a little heavy hearted because of my son wanting us to be closer. Austin is so different than Florida though, & more expensive.

I live in Nebraska. 4 seasons, all of my family is here. Low cost of living, smaller city, excellent schools. I will never leave here. Hopefully before I retire I am going to buy a Casita and travel the world. My youngest has 6 years before she graduates HS. Then I am off.

I got a job here when I graduated from college in 1985. Now that we are retired, and all the kids have moved away, I am planning to relocate to the northern Virginia area in a few years when our oldest and her DH have children. My other 2 kids are on the west coast and not likely to have kids anytime soon. Our Son-in-law works for the federal government so I know they will be in the DC area for a long time.

I have 2 siblings who have houses in Florida that I can visit in the winter, but I would never want to live there.

Moved to SoCal years ago because that's where the job was that I got. Had plans to move to Arizona when we retired, but that didn't/hasn't come to fruition.

I live 4 miles from where I grew up, so I just never left. Specifically we live in this house because when DH got a job shortly after we got married, the boss owned it as a rental and wanted DH to live close to the shop. We bought it 5 years later when we decided we didn't want our housing tied to his job if he left it (and he did). I don't think we'll ever move.

Mostly b/c my family has been here for generations & it’s part of who I am not just the place I live.

Much the same here.

I've been open to move, there's just not been the right opportunity.

I don't, however, expect my kids to live here after college. I think they may have better opportunities elsewhere.

And I would be open to moving closer to where they might land.

Both my husband and I grew up here and a majority of family lives here so no need to leave.

That, and we both have established doctors and specialists too numerous to count and it would be a royal pain to find them all again in a new place.

We initially moved here (to Colorado, from Atlanta) over 16 years ago, because we were expecting our first child, and wanted grandparents nearby, and FIL helped DH get a job at his company. FIL has since passed away, and the rest of the family here has scattered. DH had changed jobs a couple of times as well.

But at this point, we would do almost anything to stay in Colorado. We have fallen in love with everything about it, and it is home like I suspect no other place could be.
