Why do you like the nook color?

I would try and trade it for a Kindle. One of my main hesitations about e-readers has been that they do not LOOK like a real book when you're reading. DH got a Kindle DX for his bday and I am loving it. The e-ink is fabulous. I plan on getting myself a regular Kindle for reading and an iPad for playing.

The Nook Color is essentially a smaller iPad. The Nook can easily be hacked right now to get all of the andriod apps, or you can wait for some of the apps in January. Either way, it's an awesome little machine for 1/2 the cost of an iPad, and the video and color quality are amazing!

I'm a big reader and my DD and DH decided to get me a nook. Very thoughtful. They were really thinking of me and it is sweet, but I just had a conversation with my Dsis about how I like to read books the old fashioned way and have no desire for an e-reader. So here I am with this expensive gift trying to like it and understand it and feeling we could put the money to better use. Please tell me the benefits. I really wanted a netbook so I could organize my photos and itunes. I was trying to get an e-book from the library, but that was unsuccesful.

Advantages I see:
Reading in dark
Reading in car
thousands of books at my fingertips

disadavantages:
I like to ready paper books
can't read in bathtub
the technology is frustrating me

I did read that you got the IPAD, and congrats!! I love my original Nook. I read in the tub, at the beach, at home, on the porch, everywhere! We bought one for my mom first, since she reads more books than one can count. She doesnt miss holding a "real" book at all. I dont either! The e-ink rocks!
