With everyone dealing with economic hardships,
I was wondering what keeps you going to Disney,
and what could Disney do to spread a little magic
during these tough times?

I'll start...
We keep coming back to take a break from reality
and enjoy special times with family and friends.

I'd love to see Disney take a break on ticket price increases
for a couple of years!

Who's next?

its just fun, everyone gets to be a kid there, takes me out of reality for a while...which can be a pretty stressful most days

For me it is that instant feeling of happiness. Now being a parent watching it through my children's eyes is just priceless. Disney allows to live in the fantasy world. I love having the ability to cater to everyone in our family. It is just magic. pixiedust:

The adults and kids get to do and enjoy the same things on the same level.

It's magical to us, and one place our autistic son can go and have a good time at.

My husband lost his job Dec 1st and we'd already planned our next trip in June. I considered canceling but we're not...why? This is our laughing place. We come here, leave reality behind and just have fun! We have so many special memories with our children and families over the years, plus we're originally FROM this area...it's like coming home. :cool1:

We don't have any children so it allows us to revisit "our childhood" each and every visit.

We just got back yesterday and are already hard at work planning our October visit.

I agree with all of the above. It is magical and fun, a true escape.

Disney does what they do extremely well. It's ALL about the story, not just a thrill ride or something. And the level of customer service is excellent. While it can be expensive, we think it is great value for the money and cost is in the same ball park for other vacation experiences which, IMHO do not come close to the fun and magic at WDW.

Re-living my childhood memories of the park and now seeing the joy and magic in the eyes of my kiddos.

Plus the escape from reality (phone, email, TV) is nice too :)

I could not agree more. I did not go to Disney as a child and I have enjoyed our two trips with my kids. I don't care how old you are when you see how happy and fun it is for the kids you get hooked. I am a big kid when it comes to DIsney and am somewhat obsessed with it, thank goodness my DH is good about. He won't admit it but he loves it as much as I do. While my kids are young DD8 and DS6 we are trying to go every year. May will be trip #3 and I can't wait. CBR Pirate room here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!pixiedust:

Some of my fondest childhood memories are from this place and now I can start sharing them with my own kids and watch them make their own memories.

"It's the Ciiiiiiiiircle of Life!!!!"

Sorry. :crazy2:

that says it all. i get asked this question all the time, every year, alllllll of our trips have been magical. we hear, "don't you get bored seeing the same things?" everyone has a passion of some sort--disney is ours. just like everyone says, it takes you away from the real world a little while. we learn something new on every trip. i love to soak up what all is going on around me. to the little kids seeing the characters for the 1st time, and seeing the older couple holding hands down main st. that will be us. there's no place like it , it's our happy place!!:)

Well for me, I've lived close to Disney for pretty much my entire life, so it has just about BECOME my life. I go on Disney cruises and vacations, buy Disney shirts, hum Disney songs while doing laundry... I couldn't imagine NOT going back to Disney lol.

And to agree with MonorailDriver, it is an escape. One time while en route to Animal Kingdom, my car was sideswiped, then my E-Pass (for tolls) didn't register, and my simple endeavour to buy a loaf of French bread for dinner later that evening failed when I couldn't find it at three different stores. But I drove into the gates of Disney, and ahhh... it melts away. The world doesn't exist when you are at Disney.

On the note of $$$, there is PLENTY to do at Disney for free or close to free- Downtown Disney, resort hopping, mini-golf, etc. I have an annual pass, but I've spent many days not even going to the parks, just having a nice day out to see a movie at DTD and then playing a round of mini golf and snapping some pictures. I used to babysit my sisters-in-law when they were small, and I'd bring them to DTD to keep them occupied. For just the cost of gas and a few cheeseburgers at the Micky D's there, they were kept happy and busy for hours. I think that's a pretty good deal! ::yes::

With the money crunch lately, we've scaled back our deluxe visits and have tried the value resorts, which we enjoyed. We always bring our own drinks and snacks (even when we were splurging at the deluxes, having a 12-pack of soda is always a good idea!), and it cuts back on our spending so much that we are able to take many more trips than if we'd eaten out. I know that eating out is part of "the experience," but we've been there so many times that now we'd rather be cheapskates and be able to stay more often. And there are good food deals as well. I am particularly fond of the food courts in Port Orleans Riverside and All-Star Movies, consisting of "build-your-own" type of meals. My husband and I get away with an $18 dinner, and we are completely stuffed. We also enjoy Trail's End Buffet at Fort Wilderness. They have the best breakfast buffet- MMMM Mickey waffles!!! :hyper: There are plenty of ways to save money and have fun, you just have to find them.

It's my therapy, plan and simple.........I feel great when I'm there.

My first visit to Disney World was the summer after I graduated from high school when I chose a family trip with my parents over a cruise with my fellow graduates. Since then I've been as a newlywed and with our two children 3 different times. The last two trips were just my husband and I and this time we took the whole family....son, daughter-in-law, 3 granddaughters, daughter and her boyfriend....as a late Christmas gift.

Each visit has it's own special memories and I have loved them all. Disney is truly magical. You leave your worries behind when you go through the gates and get to just enjoy the fun. Every time we leave I'm a little sad and start thinking about how soon we can return!

Total escape from everyday life - don't even turn the TV to non-WDW channel. Always have a good feeling when I'm there - everything is fun and magical. Even waiting in line or for a parade turns into an oppurtunity to make new friends with cast members and fellow riders alike. It's an attitude that you just can't recapture or truly express anywhere else.
I'm a true believer :)

I agree 100% that it is pure magic. For our family Walt Disney World allows us to actually spend time as a family. During our everyday lives we don't spend too much family time together because my DH works a ton of hours and then he works overtime hours when needed (works for the telephone company). Eventhough my girls are 7 and 5 they are very active in school and church, therefore I am always running around with them after school taking them to various functions. Then of course I have a part time job (yes I work at TDS to be even closer to the magic) which gives me play money for my girls and I, while the money my DH makes is for the bills. So when we go to WDW it allows us to become a family again and really enjoy each other and our "Happy Place" plus we have fun doing what we love to do.

For the money issue, we do cut corners here and there, especially for our upcoming trip in March, we are planning on doing a lot less TS meals and do more CS meals and we are not going to be spending a ton of money on souvies....of course that could always change once we get there :goodvibes and we are not renting a car this time and solely relying on Disney Transportation. However, since I am a CM I do get discounts, and that does help out a lot.

I will keep returning until I have done everything at least once!!

We never went on family vacations when I was a kid. We went to six flags (3 hours away) twice and that was it. I always dreamed of going to Disney. I thought it would get out of my system after the first time but I can't get enough. I hope to be able to go every year. My husband and son don't care for it as much as my daughter and I.

This time I'm going my little sister and her family. It will be a great time for us because we've never been able to share something like this together.

Disney is my stress relief, plain and simple. I consider it my hobby. The only thing I'd like Disney to do is think about a few more incentives for annual passholders. We can't really take advantage of many of the packages they offer since we already have our tickets.
