Why do you go back to WDW?

I am very tired of the parks. I used to love Epcot before they started to change it. I keep going back to WDW for the WEATHER
and OKW has great accomodations. Last January I sat right at the docks at OKW for about one hour while the sun went down, just loving the warm temperatures. You may get to the point where the parks are not what they used to be to you, but there are still some very good restaurants and so much more to do then just the parks. I love Florida and OKW in the winter.

partly for the change, they say you can never visit the same wdw twice, and i believe it's true, 03 saw dw and i making our first year with 2 trips, cs in april including 3 days nurses convention and family trip in dec with us staying okw as first dvc trip and 8 other family and friends staying wl, and even with 2 trips that close each one was different, always like to see the old favorites and always check out some of the new
now that we are dvc and plan at least 2 trips a year to wdw plus exchange trips or 3rd wdw depending on what interests us, we have dropped the commando style and are really starting to relax, for the first time we find ourselves just hanging at the resort for a few hours each day, plus we are making sure to take in the little detail things, free tours especially, in dec we took little tour of wl with stan the ranger, great little info tour, i love learning about the history and imagineering of wdw
PLUS i still haven't tried all the wdw dessert offerings, almost the first thing i posted was apoll in restaurants trying to get info on new desserts, LOL
and i really appreciate wdw style of guest services, i've never had a bad cm experience and what few little things i've needed dealt with have been promptly addressed

The quality of the guest experiance. We are treated very well at BWV, we by know are know to the cast (funny how that happens - us being knowable) and we love the resort. We enjoy the parks.

We can do things together. Yes it isn't the real world that is exactly why we go - there are a lot of pressures and stresses in the real world most don't follow us to WDW and the ones that do seem more managable. The focus of our days is to play.

Mostly we enjoy the escape, no work, no phone ringing, nothing outside the family tugging at us.

We keep going back for a number of reasons, but I will cite 2.

I am a federal law enforcement officer who stood at the Pentagon on September 12, 2001 when the first bodies were being recovered. I was on a detail that was at ground zero days later, again the recovery was under way. After nearly 30 years in law enforcement, I have lived day to day with things people only see part of on the news or fictionalized in books, tv, and movies. I look forward to my break from reality, to that moment when I can try to be a kid again. No pagers, no cell phones (except my personal one), no faxes, just my family. Add to this that our DS is turning 16, and even though the days of riding Dumbo over and over have passed, he now takes an interest in trying new things (such as the Aqua Seas Tour at Epcot) that we get to experience together.

I hope when it came to WDW, I never have to grow up.

We love it there, to be honest I never thought I would ever feel the need to keep going back to the same place - but now I am an addict...Why, who knows...

We started going just every few years, but then after we had our second daughter (8 yrs difference) it seemed the most logical place for us and it was. There are four of us and we all like different things....

As stated previously you can do or not do whatever you want. There is always something for everyone, whether it is a nice place to eat or a scary ride...I love just walking aroung the world and watching all of the people. No matter where we go, I always seem to relax more when I am at WDW....and I really feel it is a magical place where the world does not intrude.....

It keeps me in touch with the little boy, sitting on the floor in the living room, watching the "Wonderful World of Color" on a Sunday night in my PJ's. Hoping to one day,go to that magical place that Walt kept talking about.

I try not to go to each park on each visit.

With mother as old as she is - I am really waiting for my solo trip this May to do AK. now with the meet going on too - I don't know how much time I will have - but I have yet to complete explore this park.

We also love to visit the different resorts - they are each so very, very different.

I also make some time to relax - just lay back and enjoy my home away from home. Especially love the pools at OKW - they are never that crowded and sometime - no one else is there....and it is not because it is too cold.

now I can't lay out in the sun - like most of you can - I have very, very fair skin and I am allergic to the sun - I happen to really love sun screens - but even they won't help me between the hours florida time 10:00 am to 3 pm - so we go visit the other resorts and shopping - anything inside.

but even with my skin - WDW is one of my favorite places - Orlando has so many things to do - it would be hard to become bored - until WDW gives us a good park pass - I find that I spend most of time during things off-sites - and believe me there is alot to do!

the primary reason for me is nostalgia/sentiment.

my family had wonderful family vacations at WDW when i was a kid. so, when i returned as an adult, it was great to "relive" those memories.

as an adult, i came to respect and enjoy WDW's attention to detail (i.e. Disney "Magic"), great customer service, great upkeep.

that lasted maybe about one trip. everything after that has been going downhill slowly, but i keep going back now because i keep giving WDW the benefit of the doubt. and also, if i'm being truly honest, i do "deceive" myself... after all, "Magic is about deception." and i'm able to pretend things are still just as good... ignore all the declining things about WDW, and try to have a good time anyway. (sorry, i'm in a bitter mood today... )

anyway, the point is, i keep going back to try to recreate that same magical trip i had the first time i went as an adult. and each time has been close, but not quite. but the fact that it's close is often good enough, and i just settle for that. the big problem with settling for mediocrity is that Disney has figured out that people will settle, so that's probably why things have gone downhill. *sigh* at some point, we need to protest. but many of us value WDW vacations too much, that it's just way too hard to cut yourself off completely! so then Disney wins.

also, the second major reason i keep going back is the comfort level. because i've gone to WDW on vacation so many times, it's like going "home". which eventually leads to why we bought DVC: so we can go "home" often. because people grow attached to their homes, and we (or at least i) grew attached to WDW. so, even if your neighborhood changes, and isn't as good as it used to be, it's still your home, and you're still attached to it. *sigh*

There is something about seeing the castle come in to veiw and remembering my joy as a child and the joy on my children's faces - my only hope is to raise them as happily as I was raised. As two people who spend way too much time at work (to pay for our new DVC!) - bringing the kids to WDW is about the only thing I can do the same as my (extremely traditional but disney nuts ahead of their time) parents did!princess:

WDW has so many great things to do. It's not always just about the parks and the rides. Tons of choices in the Orlando area not to mention the Disney courses.

We always feel relaxed at WDW. We stayed at WL last time, and each night we would have a cocktail and just hang out by the pool - it was great.

The place is just beautiful - the landscaping is great. Going on boat rides is another thing we love.

Tons of extras like the food & wine fest - fireworks, downtown disney. Plus - there are a million things to do in Orlando.

We have tired of the parks a little so this year we are skipping them altogether. It will make the kids look forwark to going to them next year again.
We enjoy all the other things WDW had to offer, the pools, the water parks, golf, tennis, horseback riding, etc. One of our favorite things to do is visit all the different resorts and try new restaurants.
There is so much more to do at WDW besdies the parks.

escapism.

It is a place I can go and take my family, and for a brief time, I can forget the pressures of everyday existence, work issues and all other obligations. Our kids know that our time is theirs!

I get to be a child again. And a happy, wonder-filled child at that.

I had a hellish childhood, and at that moment where you're walking up Main Street and you realize that THAT'S CINDERELLA'S CASTLE! and the magic just gets you, it's almost like getting to reclaim something I never had.

Now if I could just get the price tag for it to go down.... :teeth:

Because I had tremendous memories of visiting WDW many times in my youth and wanting the same memories for my children. There is so many things to do there. I think that helps with the potential boredom of going to the parks.

We just like to escape to our Happy Place and we can never do that enough!
