Why do you drink Diet Coke or Coke Zero?

I wouldn’t drink Coke if it had zero calories. I’m a Diet Coke gal from the day it was launched. I don’t like Coke Zero because it tastes too much like regular Coke.

I love Diet Coke, and can't stand regular Coke or Coke Zero. I try to stay away from sugar and I just prefer the taste of Diet Coke.

I drink Diet Coke, because Diet Pepsi isn't always an option. As for why I drink diet drinks in general, regular drinks taste too sweet to me.

I only drink diet coke. The regular is way too sweet for me. The only time I can drink it is if it’s in a mixed drink.

I would prefer drinking regular Coke, but diabetes put an end to that. 45 years of no health issues whatsoever, and after one check up, doc calls me and leaves a message saying “you need to call us back immediately”. My a1c measured 227 (normal is below 60, pre-diabetic is 60-70). They were sure I was gonna drop at any second!

After all these years, I still prefer the taste of Coke, but Coke Zero is close enough to satisfy the craving for something sweet. Now I need to worry about the artificial sweeteners! 🤪

I know exactly when I drank my last Diet Coke, at the GF QS in 2019. It tasted so awful I've not wanted another since.

I decided to cut out all sodas after that because I realized I'd been drinking so few that they all tasted like nasty chemicals. Haven't wanted one since and feel so much better without either fake or real sugar.

I like the taste of regular Coke instead of the Zero/Diet ones. Zero/diet have an odd chemical taste to me. And usually they find out after a few years that the things added to replace the sugar have their own set of 'issues'.

It seems like a good way to save calories.

I really like Coke Zero, but I do not really like Diet Coke.

Regarding the other diet drinks, some of the store brands like the Kroger Zero Cola (black label) is good, their diet citrus is drinkable, although Diet Mtn Dew and Mtn Dew Zero are definitely superior. Also, I drink the Pepsi Zero, it is good too. I would say Diet Mtn Dew is probably my favorite diet pop, but I don't buy it as much because I drink it too fast and too much of it. Shamefully, I noticed that I once drank an entire 2l bottle in like 3 hours. It takes me longer to drink cola, so I tend to buy more of it. I can stretch a 2l out for about an entire day.

I don't drink Coke very often, but when I do I choose a regular Coke. I've tried diet and zero and I don't like the way they taste. I hear a lot of people mention Diet Coke so do you drink it to appease a soda craving? If regular Coke was zero calories would you drink it instead?
I didn't hate Coke, but I liked Pepsi better. That said, I wanted to have an occasional soft drink (my primary thing is unsweetened Ice Tea) and Diet Pepsi left an unpleasant after taste whereas Coke Zero didn't. So when I drink Coke it is Coke Zero. Which begs to get clarification about your last sentence... Regular Coke is regular Coke because of whatever they use for sweetener (sugar?) So Regular Coke with no calories IS Coke Zero. I like Diet Dr. Pepper better than either of those.

I switched to diet sodas to save on calories. After drinking them for awhile the regular sodas really are too sweet now. I drink a regular soda a couple times a year when it is the only option, and I have no desire to do that more often.
Coke Zero is better than Diet Coke. Diet Dr Pepper is my preferred choice.

I'm confused. You realize zero calorie sodas ARE diet?

Yeah, but there is a difference in taste between "diet" sodas and "zero sugar" ones. "Zero Sugar" is a special process that was developed by an independent company. It was exclusive to Coke for a time, but now you see thier branding on many Zero sodas from all the major companies. It does taste significantly better too!

Quitting pop was the hardest addiction, thus far. Harder than cigarettes, harder than alcohol.

However, my body - oof, it needed it. Diabetic (alcohol-induced), kidney and liver issues. Pop is straight up poison, and I knew it all the years I drank it, but...seeing the damage it did, in black and white. I was done.

I drank full-steam Coke until the first time I was admitted with kidney issues. Switched to Zero. Drank that until it got even worse.

Now, it is coffee, tea, water only. Black for the first two. If I have a sweet tooth, I throw some protein shake into the coffee.
