Why do we check availability when we’ve already booked?

I *thought* I was finally happy with sports decision for budgetary over Christmas trip.

I have now read soooo many negative comments (and I know folks tend to post more bad stuff than good) therefore I should just let it fly;however...

Movies is available for part of our trip now-
As are pop and pofq

Pofq is obviously more expensive
And would be at the beginning rather than the end-
Does that make it no go?

Both pop & movies are just everso slightly more expensive;I just think they’re all values and we ought to save the extra $’s for food

Clearly, I then swing back again!

Do resorts generally sell out over the holidays?
If we left reservation with sports as it stands & don’t like it-would there be any availability at other values?!

Edit to add:
Just me & dh (in our 50’s)
No car
Never stayed on site for whole trip before
Trip is 7 days/ 6 nights
22/12-28/12

I personally would just stick with your choice and save the cost for something else. I'm staying at Music in Mid December and I've also done the check availability and wondering if I made the correct choice. I really wanted to stay at one of the Moderate resorts but the diffference was $800 with that my friends and I decided to take a tour instead.
What I've decided is that you just need to go into it with the right mind set. Prepare for it to be loud and busy and you'll probably be surprised how nice it is if it's not then you are prepared and it won't seem bad.

Christmas week is VERY busy - and on top of that they are opening the second ride in SWGE on December 5, so I would expect things to be a little more hectic for the whole month of December. If you want a different resort, i would book it ASAP. I would NOT bank on being able to change resorts for that long of a trip when you arrive.

That said, Sports, Movies and Music are all comparable resorts, the biggest difference being that Movies has rooms that have been recently renovated (and I've heard great things about them). We just stayed at Music, it's definitely a "budget" resort but since we didn't spend much time in the room it served our needs quite well.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me I really like sports, it’s always been quiet, clean and generally a fun resort. The cast members there have always been courteous. My wife and I are almost in the same age bracket, we’ve stayed at the majority of the resorts on property, I booked sports on a whim once because the other resorts I liked were full, after I booked I really wasn’t sure we would like the resort because of the comments around the web, we got there and were pleasantly surprised. Is it a deluxe,no. It’s basic and a little dated, but the staff, location and grounds made up for that. I enjoyed the small size of the resort itself and I liked the fact that at the end of the night when I got off of the bus it was a short walk to my room. Mousekeeping did a great job and the front desk was quick and courteous.

We, including my kids, have always been all about the resort. We spend 50 percent of our time there, plus sleeping. I would book where you truly want to stay. I have never regretted that.

Completely agree with all of this - we love Sports & liked it way better than POFQ.

We stayed at Music in May and I didn't like it. If I had to choose between the Allstar resorts, I'd chose movies for the renovated rooms.
Edit to say that we did a split stay and also stayed at POFQ and I loved it. If I had the money, I'd stay there over the Allstars.

I stayed at music with my family and hated it, I know it’s basically the same as sports but a different theme, but something about music turned the whole family off.

This is us. I book where I will be happy staying.

OP look at your itinerary, and how you tour. Will the room be just a place to hang your hat, or do you use a resort as part of the vacation? If you are there for the parks, just sleep in your room, keep what you have and knwo it is going to be fine. If you like to hang around the resort, relax by the pool, and enjoy a cocktail in a lounge, shop around a bit more. POFQ is lovely if you can get it, as are any of the moderates. Personally, as an adult couple I would shoot for CSR, but I know my family likes to use the resort amenities and this one has several we like.

Only you know what value you will place on your resort, so consider that and don't worry what anyone else says. I continue to book Chef Mickey fo rmeals and you know what folks say about that one. LOL!!!

I agree with you. The staff are great at sports. And i love the compact layout of the resort. Its one of my fave values. Yes, you'll get two double beds at sports vs two queens at the renovated movies/pop. But if thats not important to you, then i'd just stick with sports. The pool theme is awesome...love the large surfboards and boardwalk. Plus if the buses share (sometimes they do, but not always), sports is the first one picked up and dropped off. Also think about the money you'll save by staying at sports. You did say it was the cheapest. :)
