Does anyone actually use there FP's for shows? Lol AK tried to do this with me which I guess I don't see why anyone would. I mean maybe there are some shows that require planning but The LK show is pretty eaay to get in?

2 words...high capacity.

Fastpasses are not just for planning popular rides anymore. They had to spread it out to make more passes available. If it was just low capacity rides, then there would be more guests who would not be able to find anything to use their 3 allotted passes on.

My family was in the world during the second week of June. We did not need a fp for the Lion King Show. We walked in and have very good seats. I imagine those with a fp have a dedicated area.... However there are better choices for a fp like Kali River Rapids in the afternoon or Expedition Everest!

Like Makira said, they use to have a limited number of FPs available first come first serve to guests in the park.

Now they need predicted crowd times 3 fast passes + some random number of people who booked them and didn't show.

I went standby for the 10AM show a few weeks ago. The only difference I noticed was that the standby crowd was initially herded together into one section while the FP people were given a tiny bit more freedom. The ushers were still directing them, but they weren't as smooshed as we were in the standby section. Towards show time, though, seating became more of a free-for-all and there were still empty seats.
