Why do they make things so difficult

When I spoke to Disney earlier I said; “ You know when I’m on It’s a Small Ride without using a fast pass but you can’t tell if 1 person in the room leaves early? I find that very hard to believe. Disney knows what each guest is doing at all times.” The agent agreed with me and gave me some BS line about them not having that technology.

Yes, yes, yes. Deactivate the band. Stop the ticket . They know. Heck they drive my guests to the airport. ( I do the pickups because it is fun - call me a beast but I rarely do the departures - hello Disney Express).

While they certainly know where everyone is, I maintain it is lazy programming of the DDP system. Fixing it for DVC isn't a priority .

Lots of advice - lots of attitude.

I was psyched that they're closing the parks early with more broken rides especially after the media increase. Hey, they're a business - as a corporation, they owe it to their shareholders to minimize usage. No guaranteed access or rides when I bought my contract.
Just kidding, OP. You get it .

Until they embed trackers under your skin, they cannot tell where you are at all times. Magic Bands are the tracking mechanism, but Magic Bands =/= people.

I've had trips with 16 Magic Bands in our room (4 bands x 4 people), none of which could accurately identify whether or not the owner was actually present in the room. Sometimes one band is with the owner while others remain behind. Sometimes a MagicBand is in the hotel room and the guest isn't even present at WDW anymore.

They can tell when you scan a band for entry. They can tell when you redeem a FastPass. They can tell when you pass certain installed readers in the parks (on-ride photos, name on Small World.) But outside of the parks it gets far less precise since a single individual can possess literally dozens of bands, none of which is guaranteed to be around the wrist of the owner.

In the early years of the DDP, DVC expressly allowed owners to book split stays and manipulate dining plan purchases. The dining people insisted DVC change its processes and close that loophole. The length-of-stay requirement is in place because that's exactly what Disney wants.

Remember some of the posts here years ago where people were checking in and out every day so they could do a DDP every other day yet have meals every day of the trip? They found a way to manipulate the system, and the system changed as a result.

That is just insane. Who does that? Find a way to police the bad without causing harm.

Wait, what? We can still do that. My dh and I always book a split stay with the dining plan at the beginning. We have a few splurge meals, then back off and eat more sensibly. We have the refill mug for the entire stay.

You can in some situations but if it's the same resort and room type, they will often combine the reservation into one continuous stay.

I think the other problem is the whole resort reservation system was not designed for split stays.
They’ve cobbled together enough of a process that now usually works, but it’s not a given.

With the multiple DDP splits, I think people were getting locked out of their rooms, and many other major issues resulting in resort managers having to offer large credits, etc. it wasn’t a good customer experience or a good CM experience.

They probably should have had a rule limiting a member to (1) DDP/month to prevent the multiple segments.

Yeah, I am a fan of the QS and Standard DDP. The Deluxe DDP is something I have yet to be able to find the value in. That is a lot of food, and I would feel like I was wasting my money if I didn't eat a Table Service for every meal, and that would take up a bunch of time as well.
My family of six (4 kids, 2 adults) booked one night at the beginning of our trip in the FW Cabins. We got the deluxe dining plan for it. My friend and her husband were also there in another cabin (with their infant, so she didn’t count towards the numbers).
So we had 18 credits to use. My husband and two kids got in a day later than the rest of us, so that first night my friends and I and my daughters used 10 credits at HDDR. The next night all of us had dinner at Crystal Palace using the remaining 8 credits. My friend paid me for a third of the total cost of the plan, so she got a third of the snacks and two mugs. We came out WAY ahead using the deluxe plan like that! But for a longer stay I couldn’t imagine making it useful.
