WHY do they keep changing the menus!?!?!?

To me...

It seems like the menu's at WDW have been shortened over the years - streamlined if you like and offer less items.

It's probably economics, but it does get boring - I remember last time I was there in '05 - Red snapper was on every menu... :confused3

Even Ghiardelli's took off my favorite sundae... The one with the chocolate and Raspberry sauce...

Ok folks - here is reality.... Restaurants change their menu's, that's the way restaurant business is, WDW or not. And we all have to deal with it. WDW does not post their menu's online anywhere for that reason.

I agree with the Smiths here. I also like to try different things when eating at a familiar place. We usually repeat at WDW restaurants because we have enjoyed the atmosphere or service. We are apt to never return based on atmosphere or service, even if the food is good.
If we have particularly enjoyed a dish somewhere, we will go back with one of us ordering that meal (if its still available) and the other ordering something new and we share.
Everytime we visit WDW we also want to stay at a different resort. We just like to try as much of what WDW offers as we can!

Going back to whay Mackey Mouse said--daily "specials". Most restaurants have daily specials to provide some variety to the basic menu. But not so WDW restaurants. I can't recall the last time we ate at WDW and saw special menu items (printed, or voiced by the server). Wonder why that is--??

I have plenty of theories as to why the menus are changing so much, but I (along with many of you) have already shared them repeatedly on these boards. So I'll save you all the time of having to read them, and just say . . . .

WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! :scared:

It's not a conspiracy, it's just what restaurants DO. I work in one, we change ours quarterly. Not so much that most people even notice, unless their favorite items change or goes away. It happens, that's life.

I think some of us are a bit perplexed as to why a favorite dish, maybe something that we consider a signature dish for a particular establishment, is removed.

As others have said, it's not really a perplexing issue. It's very common in the restaurant biz to change menus, and that even means taking away "favourites" from time to time. There are lots of reason. A dish might take too much extra preparation, the cost to profit ratio might be too high, they might be making room for other, better dishes...the list goes on and on.

It does seem like we have this discussion quite often, doesn't it?

I'm also a "foodie". And I think that's why I LOVE change. So, you'll never see me complain about that. In fact, I would have a hard time ordering a dish at a restaurant that I had already tried. There's way too much stuff out there to entertain my taste buds. Why eat the same thing over and over again? Especially if you're into food.

I recognize that there are picky eaters out there but I think Disney does a good job (perhaps too good of a job) accomodating them. You can get your chicken fingers and fries at pretty much every restaurant. Besides, if you don't like change, eat at the CS restaurants. With the exception of Epcot, they're pretty much all the same.

Couldn't have said it better myself
