HI DIS Friends,

Why does WDW call it the "Osbourne Lights" I always think of Ozzie Osbourne when I read about it on these threads.

I think WDW should thought of more of a magical Disney name instead.

Thanks.

The osbournes lights are named after a real family. The light display was causing too much traffic for their little town and they were asked to stop doing the lights. Disney stepped in and the lights have been at MGM ever since. 80% of the lights display is the original display from the osbourne house.

The Osborne family is from Little Rock. The neighbors wanted to make them stop putting up the lights due to the traffice, etc. and Disney offered to give their display a home at the studios.

Here's a link to the story of the lights from wdwinfo.com
As the others mentioned, the lights actually were from an Osborne family in Arkasas. It's not in this story, but I remember reading somewhere that one of the things WDW agreed to was to keep the Osborne Family name.
